installed steeda ultralites today :-)

finally got a chance to install the springs and i love them! after getting rear ended, being in the body shop for a week, raining nonstop for another week, missing out on MULTIPLE shows i actually got a chance to put them on today and im so happy. i wish i did this sooner. im not that mechanically inclined but tacobills writeup helped BIG TIME! took about 5 hours for me and a buddy to do (didnt have all the right tools at first and im always extra careful when jacking it up) but worth every minute. ill have pictures soon but just gotta say, thanks for everyones advice on the ultralites and thanks to taco bill for the killer writeup.

Second that, I think this is my next mod, but I'm torn between Steeda Ultralites and Steeda Sport Springs, since they drop the same amount.

yep only did the springs. i have no other suspension mods on the car. i didnt see a difference in ride quality AT ALL! i figured it would be harsher ride but i really cant feel anything that i already felt before with the stock springs. however i did notice a difference when taking turns.....it hugs BIG TIME . it cut that awful lean by like 75%. it should have been this way out of the factory.

from the outside, the drop isnt that dramatic. it did level the car out nicely though. no more raked look. i would recommend the ultralites to anyone wanting to lower their ride but also keep it so it can be used as a daily driver.

Did it drop the front any noticable amount? I'm more worried about the large gap in the front wheel wells than the back.

i actually forgot to take a before picture of the front end but i did remember to take pictures of the before and after of the rear. the picture with the trunk open is before dropping the rear and closed is after the drop.
before

after

also, i didnt have a ruler so i took a pen for reference to see how much of a drop it is in the rear.
before

after

ive gone over plenty of speed bumps already, along with driveways and just badly paved roads and havent scraped once. i havent changed my driving habits one bit and not once have i bottomed out. with these wprings, the front is dropped 1" and the rear is about 1 1/2". right now it might not be those exact measurements but im told the springs will settle.

hope these pictures help

Thanks man, the pics help. I think I'm getting even more settled in my decision to get these. I just want a conservative drop, without all the suspension surgery. Your car looks like it came out great.

Sooo.....what next? lol

no problem and thanks. yea i think the next mod will be the steeda underdrive pullies. tacobill's writeup of that install is just as kickas$ as the springs so i think il be able to do it myself.

Sweet, good luck!

Any plans for shocks? Or are you going to wait and see how this pans out before investing.

it doesn't. i started off just wanting springs and rims. look at my sig for current performance mods. I dont even mention the dvd/nav system, hood, louvers or other cosmetic mods.

Just out of curiosity, do you plan on also upgrading to the Ford racing non-adjustable shocks, and struts ?

My reason, is Steeda claims they're tuned exclusively for lowered vehicles.

Thanks for the pics bro. Car looks great. I have decided on those springs also because they do not need anything to go with them.

From my understanding, factory struts and shocks, are not tuned/designed for lowered vehicles. Which is why Steeda also recommends upgrading to high performance struts/shocks, that are tuned exclusively for their ultralight lowering springs. Just my $.02

I have heard that the Steeda Ultralite springs are ok to install by themselves. My research on this is that they are the one spring that achieves these criteria...

Does not need any other suspension parts
Lowers the car
Keeps a comfortable ride
Not hard on original shocks/struts

I actually like the look of the pro-kit better myself because it elimintates the rake but I would rather not have to buy any other suspension parts right now.

Great job!

You'll be fine with the stock dampeners, I know lots of guys running the Ultralite - stock dampener combo.
I'll be switching over to the Eibach Pro and D-Spec combo in the coming months, but that's only because it's in preparation for 20" wheels.
For best all around lowering springs, the Ultralites are hard to beat.

Good luck with the UDP's if you go that route. Job isn't too difficult, just make sure you have all the tools needed before hand.

thanks. i will most likely be investing in a compressor and an air gun with my next mod. ofcorse ill still need the ratchet and open end wrenches for the tight spots but the gun would have made the spring install sooo much easier. one question about the UDP's, the puller you need to get the crank pully off, any suggestions where i can rent one of those?

Can rent one from Autozone (or other car parts retailer that offers tool rental programs). Be sure to get a 3-jaw Chrylser specific puller. I know.. dumb that a Ford puller doesn't work.
