Installed JLT & Tune, car wouldn't crank!

Although this is quite an embarrassing tale of my stupidity, hopefully someone will read this and learn a lesson!

I ordered a JLT II CAI and custom tune from Bamachips, everything came fine and Doug did everything exactly right.

I installed the intake, didn't take too long to install at all. Flashed my computer with the 91 Torque tune, eager to test her out! Sure enough, car does not crank! My mind started racing as to what could have happened. I check all my connections to the intake, and notice something odd, a little sticker labeled CUY2.

I had checked my computer code months ago, and for some reason XZE2 stuck out in my head. This is the computer code I gave Doug when I ordered my tunes. Luckily, I was able to re-install the stock airbox (nothing feels worse than re-installing a stock part!) and flash back to stock, car seems to be running ok. I've emailed Doug, hoping he can provide me the correct tunes to fix my stupid mistake.

Moral of the story is, double and triple check information before ordering your tunes!

Good advice, that's definitely something to watch out for. Also if the dealer re-flashes your pcm for some reason, it may be necessary to get new tune files before trying to use your tuner.

Update: Doug got me new tunes in no time, awesome customer service!

Question: how tight do the band clamps on the JLT CAI need to be? Specifically on the band clamp going to the Throttle Body. I had some trouble getting bending the JLT connection over the TB, and even after I got it on I didn't feel like I could tighten the clamps all that much without breaking them.

i would give you the benefit of the doubt, but well... you know. lol j/k

are you sure that you attached the long end of the elbow on the pipe and the short end on the throttle body? that is the only thing i can think of. also, you don't have to make those clamps super tight. you only need to snug them down. good luck.

How does the JLT and tune feel? Did it fix the crappy throttle lag? I ask cause I am ordering the JLT and SCT xcal3 from Bamachips Fri. How long did it take for shipping?

Tighten them down a bit more than snug and check them over the next few days. Some of the tube materials have warped from to much pressure. Just tighten it until you cant move the tube anymore (twisting, etc).

Curious where the other 4 digits came from then?
