After installing the C&L intake and Diablosport tune for 93 Octane. I noticed when taking off in first gear under normal driving the car is kinda slower than when it was stock. It seems a little sluggish than before, but get on it and when you hit 3000 rpm and up it pulls like crazy. Until you get it to 3000 rpm it seems sluggish than when it was stock. Is this normal? I can live with it. I thought there would be more throttle response throughout the whole rpm range. Just curious.

I could be wrong, but I think that the shift point for 1st-2nd gear comes up real quick. I have the same problem (or is it a problem?) so I started to quickly leave 1st gear to get around it. It may have nothing to do with it, but there it is.

Now that you mention it it did seem like the shift point from 1st to 2nd did come up very quick. I guess I'll get use to it. The sound and the snap neck pull from 3000 rpm is awsome. I think it is well worth the money for this kit. I can't get enough of the power between 2nd and 3rd. I hope I don't get a ticket.

I have a 5 speed manual - I installed the Diablo last week (no CAI yet) and used the Performance Tune. I also noticed that the pickup before 3000 rpm is a little sluggish as well. It feels like it's holding back. hmmmmm...

Any ideas?

Have you downloaded the revised tune? I noticed the same lag, but it's gone with the revised tune I downloaded from Diablo's website. I also picked up about 8 more RWHP and 8 RWTQ!! You might also try to advace timing slightly, until your spark advance is 32-33 deg at WOT. Hope this help's.

Thanks VegasJay - I will look into the revised tune. Although tonight I did play around a little with the tunes and changed to the 87 octane tune and it works great. I was on the 93 octane tune before and I just figured out that we only have 91 octane here in New Mexico. Maybe that was a big factor.

The only queston I have is when my JLT CAI arrives this week - will I be able to tune for that CAI with a mid level octane gas?

Jason, the JLT flows hugh air and the caned tunes in the diablo aren't right for this CAI. You need to get a custom tune done or buy the DTP tune directly from JLT. He should have it available in several days for the diablo on a CD. I have it in SCT and it is great, but I have a diablo on hand and awaiting this DTP tune as the diablo gives you a little more tuning options.

The JLT come with a 87 (regular) tune and a premium tune, I have use both. The 87 is good and runs well, but the premium tune pulls harder and that is what im running now. They both work well.

I have the exact same situation. I bought the steeda CAI some time ago, so thats what I used.

I downloaded my tune about a week ago. I sent a tech question to diable a day or two ago, but havn't heard back from them.

It almost seems like a soft spot in the acceleration, but it pulls like a banshee after about 3k.

Greg - I changed to a lower octane tune tonight and I got a great response from the line as well as after 3000 rpm. Before I was using the Performance tune 93 octane but realized my state did not carry that octane (oops).

Hopefully this little info helps you.
