Do it yourself. Start doing the easy jobs (learning little by little), or you'll be hostage to someone else forever.

Exactly! And even if you have to rent some tools, you'll still be learning and most likely be money ahead.

Even getting them installed at Steeda is cheaper than that. They gave me a phone qoute a few days ago for 110 bucks.

Changing out the pulleys is not rocket science.

I'd love to do it myself but i've never installed any car parts and am not about to make my brand new GT the lab rat.

I did you all proud though. Went back to that shop today and talked with the same greedy manager as before. I told him that the going rate at Steeda is 110. He says he has techs to pay. I said Jon Dega racing quoted me 150...he wouldn't even match that! "Nope 200"

I then told him what I thought of him and his pricing. At that point one of his colleagues came out of an adjoining office with "last time someone here used the "F" word we threw them out" I said "Throw me out" He just stood there.. I packed up my stuff and told them I won't be doing business with them anymore. I'm all for making good profit but ripping off people isn't in the cards.

They are also very protective of their reputation, too bad.....

Oh got them installed by Mechanics in Arlington who treat people with respect and that is always returned. Price....140. Yah still high but cheaper than everyone else out there.

Jon Dega is installing my 4.10's tomorrow for 750. It's the only shop in the area that knows how to do it...

Unfortunately, in the D.C. area that is the going rate for parts (gears and install kit) and installation.

The going rate here in San Diego is around $600 (parts, labor, tax)... and now 6 months later, I still think it was worth every single penny!! Love my 4.10s!
