Instaled the FRPPs

Well my FRPPs came today. I can say that I def love the sound, but there is defin trumpeting at about 2500 rpms. If that would go away they would be SWEET! I love the volume also. All of this brings me to my next question. What exactly causes trumetting? Also, there is a little raspiness at WOT. Just a little. Its really wierd to me, I'm never heard an O/R setup that has had any raspiness. With all this talk of the Flows being raspy too, I just dont get it. Common knowledge to me would think that an O/R H matched to almost any muffler would be super deep and not raspy at all. Does anybody think that maybe the raspiness has anything to do with the mufflers on these cars being at the very rear instead of right behind the H and before the over the axel? Anyway, just trying to figure all this out. I've heard that resonators fix the trumpeting so I might consider that, but as for now I do love the FRPPs, best setup I've had yet.

If you just installed they still have to break in, give it a couple of week's depending on your driving style and they will def get deeper.

thats what I figured, but they're used so I guess we'll see. I'm by no means unhappy with them, they sound sweet! But I just figured the raspiness would be gone.

Hey Caleb! Time for another YouTube video!

Drone, trumpets, whatever... bring it! The combination of the O/R-H and Stingers is pure and raw. I always seem to draw inquires of my set-up whenever I fire her up in public.

Hey Bill! you got that right! I'll be making some vids tom cause I don't have ANYTHING to do tom. No I agree I LOVE the OR H and stingers, I'm just thinking that maybe I could get it even deeper by moving the mufflers to the center. ??? Who knows!

I also installed frpp stingers today and i love this combo. I previously had mac axle back and they sounded good until i added the pypes o/r h-pipe last summer. The trumpets from a chambered muffler and a o/r h-pipe are much worst than the trumpets from a straight through muffler like the stingers and a o/r h-pipe. I truly feel that the trumpets are gone now with the stingers. I slowly accelerated past the normal trumpet zone(2500rpms) and i really could not here them. The exhaust note just stayed deep the entire time.

YES! Funny you say that, I just removed my Bassani catted X and reinstalled my Pypes offroad H tonight. I was missing that raw, muscular sound that just commands attention!

And actually, I'm gonna try some resonators to remove the trumpeting and then probably sell my Bassani X.

I think I'm going to move my stingers to right after the H at a custom exhaust shop, I'll let everyone know what happens, I'm thinking mayeb it'll help witht he trumpeting. Either way this is the setup I'm staying with!

Caleb, have you considered an off road X-pipe instead ? from my understanding, straight through designed axle backs like the Stingers are best suited for off road X-pipes that are known for reducing drone and trumpeting while on the other hand ? a chambered/baffled design axle back such as Flowmasters, FRPP GTA's, Dynomax and Mac flow path's are best suited with off road H-pipes and Mac off road Prochambers..Anyway, just thought I'd give you a heads up...

I've ran the Borlas with both an offroad H and offroad X. If you search here for my thread "Borla vs Corsa" there are a bunch of clips comparing them.

WuTimeUT, before you go cutting up your Borlas, have the shop install some 12" resonators on the overaxle pipes. There are several people here that have done this, and it has eliminated the trumpeting! I reinstalled my offroad H last night, and I'm hoping I can get the resonators installed this week to see for myself. This might save you abunch of cash- you can get resonators for $30+ each plus the labor.

well I went to the exhaust shop today and pretty much debated on what to do. The FRPPS are to big to fit on the over the axle pipe without causing severe clearance problems. They did offer to instal resonators but I don't want to reduce the volume, the resonators they showed me were also a straight through design so I dont' know how that will take away the trumpeting. lol IDK I'm just thinking now. I would really like to see how a borla style system would sound placed in the middle location. This just seem to me that thats where the muffler should be. Even the exhaust guy said thats where they should be but that he wouldn t wanna cut up the FRPPs which neither do i lol
