What is the most efficient mod I can do with $450 that would reap the most HP? Open to all options
Thanks. Zcg

For $450 the best mod you could probaly do is a cold air and a tuner if you could find a good deal on one.

Most hp for $450? Nitrous...

OBX longtubes sell on ebay for $475+shipping ($520 total)... That's probably the best you're going to see for headers. With a tune you could add more HP than most other mods at that price.

Other options include delete plates, underdrive pullies, electric water pump, and probably a few more resistance saving mods (alum flywheel, one-piece driveshaft, etc.)

I'm stuck between buying pullies and the deletes or buying headers...I worry about the extra cash to install the headers

I found that the pulleys are a worth while mod. Free horsepower. Not groundbreaking- but it's there. Not too expensive... A little improvement in MPG as well. from netting .3 to 1 mpg. And you'll still have some $ left over. maybe for a Throttle Body?

Save your money and not buy a throttle body. You won't notice a difference unless you are already running high hp. They are more of a supporting mod.

They're cheap because they don't come with converters and are made in china.

Converters being catalytic converters. You would have to get a set of them from obx tat fit their long tubes.

Thay is true but the off road pipe presents other problems. If you have to pass emissions you will fail due to no catalyst reading. Thats is the problem that i am having now. Im working on a solution but its a work in progress

I know that here in Texas they do emissions by the computer so as long as my o2 sensors are off I should be alright. Plus I know off a place that doesn't really check everything to the standards which helps

If your o2 sensors are off they will get NO reading and you won't pass. The nice thing about the OBX is that the midpipes can be swapped out fairly easily, so you can use (custom) catted pipes for emissions and the others for the rest of the time. It might help to use the midpipe with resonators as the o/r pipe as the resonators appear similar to converters.

However, now you either need to weld cats into the other midpipe, or pay to have it done... at which point you're pushing the cost closer to other LT headers.

I am in the process of modifying my stock midpipe to work with long tube headers. Im going to move the cats back and reweld them in place. I have access to a lift and a welder so its not going to be that big of a deal. Ill just have to have my rear o2 sensors turned back on and see what happens.

I would assume a shop could it would probaly be fairly expensive. The only reason im doing it myself is because i know how to weld and have access to everything that i need to do it.
