While I have used both products and both have supporters, I do like SCT over Diablo. Is there no one you can try before you put the hammer to it?

I hate to hear cases like this, I too have been at the short end of the stick with performance companies. My only hope for you is that someone hears your problem and offers to help in any way they can, wether it is Diablo or another company. Personally I hope you get something that works for you so you can focus on getting back to making your pony fast. Good luck man.

Thanks for posting on here, I've been trying to decide which tuner to get myself. Sorry you had the bad experience though.

Ok, you're pissed. But what are you expecting from SCT? You're going to have to go the same route. I've heard different things about Alternative Auto's tune, as far as being able to just buy the tune if you're not in Michigan, UNLESS you buy the whole shooting match from them with their auto tune loaded, I guess that's the route to take.

You just have to find the right tuner. IMO both units are very similar, and you'll only be able to do limited things with the handheld unit.

Did the tuner you visited not have the right software? Were they a CMR dealer?

I know that you would be able to go to SCT's website and in the forums, be able to get a tune for just about any mod. You'd also get support for any issues that arise. I went ahead and bought the program that allows me to create tunes or modify base tunes to every extent. It's the same program the tuner's use. I'm still learning about it and how to use it.
I do agree that both products should result in roughly the same performance. It's mostly a matter of service and support with the product. One tuner may have already worked out a tune for mod A, while the other isn't quite there yet. George, I know a Diablo tuner if I can help you in any way. Diablo is just down the street from me.

I am sorry to hear you have poor product support in your area for the Predator. Although it has not always been smooth sailing I have always found DiabloSport's staff to very helpful. Even during some ugly problems they always helped resolve my issues. I have been to their facility and met their staff - top notch guys in my opinion. As a matter of fact Scott Beer personally tuned and dyno'd my vehicle and I have no problems. Cole Stevens has also lended a hand when it came to product support with both the Predator and DS Downloader.

Dave. I finally got the rear tires on the car W/O the rear sway bar and the car hooked so well that the torque management kicked in and made it fall flat on it's face. Still working on the fronts. I need to open up the holes in the hubs for the wheel studs, and install the line lock.

Hey guy,

Feel free to shoot me an email from my site with your list of mods and what you area after. I can say without a doubt that I can and will remove Torque management on your car as well as remaping the Drive-By-Wire system to give you more throttle feel down low. Finally you can make some adjustments to the tuning using the X-2, things like idle speeds, small spark adjustments, and WOT fuel adjustments but in the end if you need something major then just shoot me an email or gimme a call and I'll be happy to email you a new program.

Thanks, Doug.

Doug,
This is exactly the thing that I was hoping would happen. I think that it is great of you to offer to help him. You know it sometimes comes down to wether or not the company how small or large it may be needs to have an eye or an ear near the customer for instances like this. Great job!
Thanks,
Derek

I put in a request for a canned tune with the torque management turned off. They told me to go to a tuner. Last April I drove 2 1/2 hours to the tuner looking for a custom tune, the tuner was not equipped to do so. Diablo Sport will be getting back their tuner in a few hundred pieces, with a very nasty letter.
I feel your pain. When I called them they said my canned predator already addressed the torque management system and it was off. I got to call BS on that. This thing is dead and takes forever to get rolling even with street tires. It feels like a vaccum secondary carb in the old days. My tune does not do anything to address this drive by wire crap. So it's got to go.

George,I here ya.I am actually so sick of this computer bullpoop that I bought another car.90 Lx.former Dragcar.Allready has 12 point Tube Chassis Design rollcage with all the suspension goodys.I am going back to old school.Building an 8 second ride to compete in Quick Street.I will still run my 05 on FFWE an ocasionaly thereafter.Want to see how my 4.10,s are going to do.But I have made my mind that the 05 is way to complicated and I dont see the motor sticking together much after NOS or (High Boost)Supercharging.I am going to just enjoy the 05 as is and hold nothing back on my 90.

oh Mike...I can't believe you're giving up on this complicated mess we're dealing with. You can't quit now...Between you, George, and a bunch other's here, we bounce some great info. I know I'm not quite up to par as in old school knowledge, but I chip in every so often. I'm really just busting your chops. I was contemplating doing the same, but decided to direct that money towards restoring the 69 Mustang and eventually getting a dually/trailer setup.

I have enjoyed all are Doings in here also.Ime not giving up.I still will run my 05.I want to run Quick street with my friend who has an 8 second camaro that I work on with him.My 90 is going to be an all out attack with big cubes,Big NOS,and I realy enjoy building a car from scratch . I realy dont want to cut up my 05 right now.I enjoy driving it all over the place when I have time.Dont want to ruin its street manners that make it an awesome car.Maybe I will put a trailer hitch on the 05 and tow the 90 to the track Now how would that look?

I may have to switch too... but for a different reason. It looks like I'll need to use the SCT for the Saleen SC. I've been very happy with the Predator, and it would work fine for 99% of the owners out there who aren't looking for a serious strip car, but just want to optimize the car with the usual bolt-ons.
