I'm Lazy, Tired, and have a Quick general Exhaust Question...

Searched for a minute and couldn't find the answer, even though I know I've read it here before.

What's the better muffler when running an OR-H pipe. Chambered or straight through?

Thanks.

Basically, I've got a Pypes OR-H and Pypes Mid-Muffler system going on the next warm weekend... and I'm wondering what to expect.

John I've always read (predominantly on message forums) that the rule of thumb (regardless of what the Boondock Saints think ) is: chambered mufflers w/an H-pipe, straight-through mufflers w/an X-pipe. I have no idea why, and for those out there who'll say "But Ford put an X-pipe on the GT500 and it has chambered mufflers", I didn't make the **** up - just passing on the info

I'm running the Pypes O/R H pipe with FRPP GTA's. Love the power, but very obnoxious between 2200/2800 rpm. Has a High snarl in this range no matter how I drive it. Might be the GTA's. Almost sure I'm going back to stock H pipe and add in FRPP X pipe. Most run The stingers with this O/R pipe. Haven't heard of others with this snarl. Any input would help.

Thanks

I had a chambered muffler (GTA's) with my o/r Prochamber.... absolutely hated it. Too rattling and popping and overall tin-can sounding. I then installed a straight-through system (Pypes Midmufflers) and absolutely love it. Much more clean through all RPM's and in my opinion the only way to go. That's my experience.

i heard that catted H + chambered is good
and if you go off road, it might be better to get straight through.

anyways, i have the pypes MM and they sound UNBELIEVABLE, you will absolutely love them. especially with the o/r h pipe
