Idler pulley question...
I have come to the conclusion that the stock idler pulleys are junk.
I've had one replaced under warranty and now I have some intermitent noise that I beleive might be coming from one or both of the idler pulleys.
I listened to both with an automotive stethescope and neither sound good.
The bearings make a rumbling noise heard in the stethascope that sounds like they are worn out. I listened to them when the car was new though and they sounded about the same as now but when compared to the idler pulley on a '91 Cavalier I had at the time the one on the Cavy sounded a LOT better and that car had over 235,000 kilometers on it.
I dunno I just don't think these pulleys are great quality. I've heard of some of the FI people having to replace the idler pulleys due to the increased load that the supercharger places on the belt drive system.
I'm just looking for people's ideas on this. Anyone here had this problem and if so are there any better quality aftermarket idler pulleys available?
Any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

That reminds me of a Toyota I had.
One night I was driving to a club and I heard a noise coming from the belt train.
I immediately drove home and dismantled the belt and idler.
I greased the idler bearing and I never heard from it again.
