I have had the stang in for the irratic idle 2 times now. dealer was not able to replicate the idle going from 400/500 up to 800 and back down again. this occurs very infrequently and no particular driving habit makes it happen. recommended to dealer what Doug from Bama said about cleaning the Throttle body, however they said that they have in their dealer manual that they are not supposed to clean the throttle body. Is this true?

the engine shows no codes, and it runs awesome otherwise. could I still get a CAI and Tune (right now leaning towards JLT and one of the more popular guys like Bama or Tillman)? will there be major issues if I do this?

My worry is that I keep taking it back in to the dealer and while there they never can find the issue so I never go forward with the upgrade.

It is eventually going to do the idle drop all the time, and you won't be able to drive it. This is what happened to me and I had it towed to the dealer and they fixed it under warranty with a new TPS module (Throttle Position Sensor).

 

I had the same problem. I did what Doug said...removed the throttle body, cleaned it and put it back on. This is very easy to do yourself. This solved the problem.

 

I agree with the throttle body cleaning. I had the very same problem and off course the dealership did not have a clue, so I went with Doug's advice and cleaned the TB. What do ya know...it fixed it.

 

Same here with cleaning the TB... dealer hasd it for 2 weeks and couldnt figure it out.
