oh snap! that's alot of money! You could build a beefy 4.6 pushing that much power to the GROUND for a portion of that

$36,999.99 seems a little inflated to me considering you can buy a 5.0l cammer for less than half that.

you can buy a 625hp 520cid engine for around 9000, and that is over 4 times that? I think jegs price is wrong I would estimate maybe 16,000 at most, for that.

The price is correct according to the 2007 FRPP catalog.
Don't forget that the FRPP muffler for it costs $2500.00

Keep in mind it is a fully dressed engine with A/C and the works. This engine can also tolerate in excess of 1000 HP, stock. Fully dressed like that I'd say it's worth $20k, easily. Don't forget it's got a $6k blower mounted on it as well, a $2k clutch etc.

You can't compare the price to say that of any old long block, which is not even close to a complete assembly. You should also not value an engine based on it's "stated horsepower" either.

Pull the blower off a 4V terminator engine. Stock, it will make the same HP as a stock 3V GT engine. Which is better?

These things are hand-built and tested. Dyno'ed etc. If you look at the FRPP site and catalog, they detail the process. This is the single most expensive engine Ford has ever offered for a passenger car. I will admit, the number is beyond staggering, but remember the car it goes into commanded a price tag of over $150,000. Everything about that engine is special, it isn't just a regular old truck 5.4. The FRPP catalog lists this engine at $36,000 so that number is real.

Incidentally, I checked the price on the engine that goes into the GT500. It's on the catalog for $15,999.00. I'd go with this one and save myself like 55%.

Yep, the 500 engine is fully dressed too. The price is a bargain. Too bad the blower isn't TS though...

The engines are very similar and one is 16,000 and the other is 37g's ?!?!? that's my point that it isn't worth that much. Not to say its a bad engine or anything, just the fact that 16,000 sounded right about dead on with that engine to me, fully dressed.

Pah! For $37 grand you could almost buy a brand new GT500, which is a WHOLE CAR with a 500 hp engine included, and sup it up from there.

And good looking? Eh, not really. If I wanted to spend lots of money on an engine for both looks and power, I'd rather throw the money down on a Roush 402IR Weber 8-Stack or something else.

Link us where we can buy a GT500 anywhere near sticker.

The GT500 engine is not even in the same league as the Ford GT engine in terms of strength/capability. I don't see people at 1400RWHP on the stock GT500 block.

I don't thik 1400hp on either block will hold up too well the gt block claims 1000hp handling capiblity, I have no idea what the gt500 engine claims, butthey are very similar.

I guess I might be interested if I was building a pure trailer-to-track race car where all money went to performance...but it wouldn't be a Mustang anymore. It'd be more of a Frankenstein kinda thingy...like a ricer only not as retarded.

I guess I was looking at this engine from the viewpoint of someone wanting to sup up their street car. Didn't make sense to me.

BTW, there's a black GT500 convertable, loaded, sitting on my dealership showroom floor, for $45k. My salesman's got another on the lot that's a little less featured, for $41k. Not bad....but I'll wait a bit longer...
