The fuse distribution box under the hood would be the best bet. I tried to find a fuse that said "parking lights" but didn't see one. There are several fuses marked instrument console, but there are always lights on in the instrument cluster, they are just white during the day until your driving/parking lights are turned on, then they change color to your preset/mycolor. I saw the fog light and high beam fuses, but not one that said parking lights. You could get a circuit tester, and try several fuses before and after turning the lights on to find one that works. There's got a to be a fuse in there somewhere for the parking/driving lights, I just didn't see it listed.

On the other hand, you're brave for drilling holes in your hood to run cables. There are several mounting options on the pillar and dash I would have gone with first, personally. Just doesn't look very aerodynamic. And I could just see some punk kid trying to steal it.

But your car, your money.

I pulled the switch cluster out for the lights. It just snaps out. I then took a test lead and figured out the proper wire, tapped it and I was done. It's real easy this way and you know you got it right

Thanks Mike

Well, I will wait around a bit for more responses before I go probing around in a fuse box that displays "Do Not Probe". Im sure somebody here knows where to look.

Edit: I'll take a look at the headlight switch panel later this afternoon. Thanks!

Aerodynamics wont be hurt by such a small gauge mounted atop the hood and Im not worried about someone stealing it since the car stays within eye sight nearly all the time.

I considered using the interior as my mounting option(s) but the pillar will be saved for electronic gauges at a later time. Probably for a wideband monitor and maybe some other stuff that isnt Nitrous Pressure or Boost. There will be a day when I pull my motor and prep it for an S/C so Im prepping for that day now.

Haha, in other words, "your advice is useless." Fair enough, I was hoping someone else would post up with a location of the parking lights fuse. And that way, you can't blame your fried computer on me.

I realize it won't affect aerodynamics that much (I have degree in Aerospace Engineering). That was my polite way of saying I think it breaks up the smooth lines of the car and looks a little... forgive me... rice. And as much as I would like to keep an eye on my car all the time, I dread it when I go to the grocery store, Walmart, mall, or movie theater where I can't.

The supercharger will be nice, indeed. I'm trying to tailer my mods to suit that upcoming install as well, which is why I haven't gone with underdrive pulleys, intake cover, etc. But I'd still rather put some guages in pillar pods and over the dash before I drill holes in the hood. If I need over 6 guages (three pillar, three dash), then I'll start looking into other options.

When you start drilling holes in paint and bolting brackets on top of that, you have to expect some folks to sort of cringe at the thought. I know I was cringing while drilling holes for my hood struts, but love them now.

Take care,
H

It wasnt a problem for me to cut the holes either, since I already had hood pins up front. The big hole is likely to occur when I finally figure out how I am going to fabricate a functional Boss 429 scoop and the neccessary ducting underhood.

When I was thinking about mounting a gauge or 2 or 3 on the hood I had to entertain the idea that it would "break up" the lines of the car. When I test mounted the gauge and cup assembly and gave it a good 20 foot look it passed my picky eye.

I understand that some may not understand why I would do this but I love to be the first to do something in a "new" way. It keeps others thinking about doing new and different stuff too.

The next question is.. will it help my chances of placing at a car show? I'll find that answer out in a week or so. Maybe I'll paint my hood too.

To each their own but why would you do that to your car? You could have went with a dash pod or something.

I already explained why I did what I did and for my nerves, its just another day at the office.

If I get my lighting working correctly I'll post night time pics just after 8:30 or so.

I remember feeling the same way when I did my struts. But now, after cutting a massive hole for a shaker scoop, I laugh at myself for being so worried about the struts!!

BTW, Dan... I kinda like the old school look of the gauge on the hood! Makes me think of a big tach sitting there back in the day!

The Fuel Guage will eventually be joined by a Boost Gauge for when I do go that route. A Nitrous Gauge will be mounted there soon enough though.

Anyways, here are some night shots. Take notice to the redfire red painted pass through plug.

BTW, the correct wire to tap is directly off the plug for the headlight switch. In the harness, its the 2nd wire down on the right hand row of wires when you are looking at it from underneath (on your back with your feet in the air and over the rear of your drivers seat) the dash. You can probe the socket using a ground from underneath the dash. It turns on with the parking lamps.

I like the painted pass thru plug, and the night shot through the windshield looks bad as.
