I was visiting family in Ct. this weekend, turns out they're only 15 minutes from Davids2toys. I went over and checked out his Stang (and Vette and Harley). His car is VERY sharp. I had never seen the Hurst installed in the Mustang, other than pictures. I could not believe how short the throw is and how great it looked. When I got back to the house I got online and ordered it. $198.00 with free shipping from LM Performance. C'mon Spring!!!

Hmmmmm. Maybe I'd better start looking into a new shifter. The factory one is pretty good but a bit sloppy when shifting into 3rd.

I was totally amazed at the difference! I also felt the stock one is a bit sloppy, but didn't realize how much until I tried this one....wow!!

My plan all along has been to get the Hurst shifter, but I've seen other threads where people have complained about it. Mainly the comment of notchy feel.
Does anyone have negative opinions of the hurst shifter and if so why.

Absolutely no complaints here. I love the feel of it, very solid and very precise. On top of that, a super easy install!

No more than an hour at most. It is a matter of 2 nuts and 2 bolts. Many people have suggested, and I will agree, have a 10mm deep well socket. That will make your life a whooole lot easier.

It depends how you describe "notchy". I think it has a positive feel, very firm and you know when your in gear. If you like the way the stock shifter seems like your shifting a rubber transmission, then you will not be pleased with the Hurst, but if you want a no nonsense shifter that lets you know where you are in the shift pattern, you will love it.

As far as cold in Watertown, Up and down, it was -1 yesterday and will be 45 tommorow. This has been the warmest winter in a while.

Sounds very interesting. I had a Tri-Ax on my 2001 GT, and that was a pretty noisy shifter. How is the Hurst unit on noise and vibration?

Also, that shifter looks a LOT taller than the stock shifter, is that true? Seems that would make it less comfortable, since you could not put your elbow on the arm rest...

Yes, its taller but its not uncomfortable, it actually helps. Now your arm doesn't bump into anything you have in the cup holder.

The Hurst is definitely noisier than stock but I'm young and noise doesnt bother me . I get a little bit of a rattle during acceleration which I'll look into when I have time to get under my car.
