Um no thanks. The Hurst is not for me, billet version or no. I was just curious, that's all.

I think Tom is right... there is something wrong here.

So, 'subzero05' is telling us that Hurst/Mr. Gasket designed and started to develope a new S-197 billet shifter and B&M decided to continued with the shifter after the buyout. In all this time neither company built an engineering development model for testing form, fit and function..??

I certainly hope they didn't run to many production pieces. If they were all made to the same drawings as the one 'subzero05' just tried to install... OUCH..!!! that could cost some big bucks..

Subzero05, this is not a personal attack on you. It's just that I would have thought companies as large as Hurst and B&M, who have been in the shifter manufacturing business "forever" wouldn't have made an engineering error such as that.

Now, if I were trying to build one, that's a different story.

Let me clarify.

The shifer referenced in the first post was designed for a tremec tko 500/600 swap into an 05 up mustang. The prototype was developed on my 05 mustang over two years ago and is still on it today. I have since sold that car but you can still see install pictures here (www.theabneys.com/mikestoys). I also have a second improved prototype if anyone needs one.

I love the Hurst because the throw is so short my Nephew can hit 3rd!
Yes it's notchy, but that's HISTORY in your hands. I remeber when I was this size and grabbing the HURST in my old Man's four on the floor!

Haha man thats a great pic... and a great memory!!!!!

I love the notchy feel. The way I look at it is you're never worried about if you're in gear or not.

Just installed the hurst comp/plus I bought off subzero05 and I've got to say it's a lot better than the factory in function. It's a little hard on the palm of the hand because I'm still trying to drive it through the heater controls like the factory shifter to make shifts. Just something I'll have to get used to with the shorter throw. Looks great too. If the new billet looks as good, gets better reviews and is decently priced I may upgrade.

That was me too... ordered with Summitracing and eventually got tired of waiting... so it was Steeda FTW...
