Hurst billett shifter

Anyone install this new shifter yet? Is the picture correct, does it bolt only to the transmission and not the body? Is it worth the extra money?

I will be installing the first production unit in my car tomorrow. it is not going to be gold in color, but rather a very trick gun metal looking anodized color. I will update after the install with my impressions.

FWIW, I have one of those in my Pony, and it died Saturday at a stop light. My mechanic is coming out today to check it out, so I'll update as to where the actual problem is...

Not the shifter... The clutch is "stuck". Its engaged. The shifter moves when the car is off, but won't go into any gear when its turned on. Freak problem, but not much of a problem to fix. Sorry for the scare. lol

yeah, the shifter arm was too short!.. Apparently when is was originally designed when Mr Gasket owned Hurst, their drawings were a little off. So, we are revising the unit and shoud try it again next week.

I'm just scrapping the clutch. The best thing I have read on this forum so far is "its never done". lol

I'm just going to put a performance clutch in it.

Geez I don't understand why people are having problems with this shifter. Installed it myself. It doesn't rattle or anything like that.

Hasn't this thing supposedly been coming out for a year now? How could the shifter arm be too short and no one noticed up until now? I bet its another 6 months before its released, if not longer. Some people tried to order this thing last summer and are still waiting lol.

Mr Gasket intended to release this shifter right before we at B&M bought Hurst. They never had a chance to actually try it in a car so that's the issue. They advised the dealers it was a new product and to start accpeting orders for it long before they even knew if it would fit or not.

Oh ok, got it....... thanks for the explanation. So, just guessing, how long 'till its released do you think?
