I would say the mgw looks like its going to blow the rest away anyway, have you read all the modifications he has done to the shifter. I wish I had a manual just to try it out, adjustibility for personal driving looks awesome. Many new patents that none of these other shifters have. So if you are looking for a nice piece, I would suggest MGW. It looks Hot!!!!!

Is a billet shifter overkill?

It looks like the mgw will be a fine product just by pictures alone. It will, unfortunately, be out of my budget range once shipped, taxed and converted to canadian dollars for me. That's why I questioned about the Hurst listed a Jeg's at $209 US. Their write up claims - self centering alignment for improved 2nd to 3rd upshifts-.

I do have one thought about the mgw. That's the front steel bushing that mounts to the transmission. I know the engines/trans have very little flex through the mounts unlike older engines but what's going to give when you have something mounted solid to a flexing powertrain and the other end mounted to a flexing body running over bad roads or twisting under torque loads. I see there's some sort of bushing at the shifters body mount. Will it absorb the flexing? I would assume the trans mount bushing will be greased to allow for some up/down movement. I guess all these presale trials will answer my questions shortly.

Thanks for the reply subzero05.

Steeda's a good median between Hurst Comp / MGW until the Hurst Billet comes out.

The Hurst Billet has just been re-installed after some changes to it TODAY!. I will drive it around the rest of the day and provide some feedback . Based on initial impressions though, it is a bit "notchier" than the comp plus but with a very "firm" and precise gate to gate action on it. I think I will like this one better overall. ETA for shipments would be about 45-60 days from today's date on production parts.

So what is the main difference between the Comp Plus and the new Billet shifter? Is it just more substantial material?

I think the reason that they're offering billet is to compete w/Steeda & MGW. It's the "magical" material. I think people pay for the milled, one piece block of aluminum. Sure it's lightweight and strong, but how light and strong does it have to be?

I believe all these shifters can be made from standard steel parts and perform just as well as their billet counterpart.
