How is this possible?

I'm not going to get into specifics...
I don't race very often... This is my daily for now and I want to baby her (I plan on road racing after I pick up a focus for my daily)

I have a 07 GT 5-speed
JLT cai
BBK tb (got it for a steal only reason I put it on)
Sct 93 octane race tune
Off road x
American thunder axel back
FRPP k springs

I beat the following:
*Newer BMW m3 (center mounted exhaust, not sure what year changed to this set up) 60-120 I had him by a nose
*2001 TA ram air ws6 w lg tubes and a few other odds and ends (1st through 3rd had him by half a car)
*2010 Camaro SS stock 60-120+ two and a half cars (this guy was heavy set and so was his wife... And I think at least one other passenger

I am not trying to be a hard *** or talk my self up as a great driver, I'm asking this question because my 97 cobra w very nice mods did not seem to be able to beat a TA much less w mods... I chalk this up to driver error on the TA... The SS due to weight, but as for the M3 I just don't know... How do u mess up on the high end?

So how do you all think any of this is possible?

M3 - 4.0 Liter V8 with a curb weight of 3700+LBS.Iif the car was running stock internals and you have a 4.6L V8 probably putting out 300hp goths wheel, the lesser weight (depending on what you have for interior such as leather, sound system, dead body in the trunk etc) combined with better HP and torque puts the odds in your favor. All you can do is get a rough idea of what the HP to weight ratio is if the other driver was running stock with everything in the car like spare tire etc. BTW, the s197's are BOATS!!! Even with LCA's, panhard, C&C plates, and sways replaced, along with spare tire and jack assembly out of my trunk, it STILL has a curb weight of 3430 or so pounds! I know because I weighed the car on a scale.

Sorry to double post but I'm on a cell phone. I've laid waste to plenty of 3 and 5 series' and an M3. I have a good amount of suspension mods along with cats punched. It comes down to driver skill, weight, knowing the car you are in and its capabilities along with which car has more power and torque. A kid in my town running a 700fwhp Civic took a BUILT M5 that Dynoed at 1046rwhp in the 1/4 mile. It wasn't by much at all but it can happen. The BIMMER was Dynoed the day it was beat at the shop that built the car for their "show car". Bimmers are amazing automobiles in many ways but they are HEAVY unless tweaked effects fly, like our S197's.

I have personally been SMOKED by one of the new 7-Series' but that was because it had a twin turboed V8 rolling under the hood cranking out 100 or so more HP than my S197 has. More power and bewst with a V8 will eat my car for breakfast any day of the week.

Ok, thanks... I just found it odd

As for the boat thing, I've had several fox bodies, a 97 cobra, and girl friend (now wife) had a 01... And this car feels much much much better as far as weight transfer, cornering, ect

Then again I had all that over 7 years ago... So who knows lol

I ve same settings as yours now. But when i was stock an bmw e46 m3 (6 cylinders line for 343 hp stock)beats me pretty easily. So i ve got an auto it doesn t help and i am also a bimmer fan, i can say that m3 can be very fast. I read in other mustangs forums that m3 beats s197 both stock.

If it was a " new m3" it s an e90 delivering 414hp... Maybe he wasn t at wot!lol

Well yea the boss was the first car to beat a m3 on all categories...I think

And I think the stock 5.0 can only beat it in a 1/4 mile

(not 100% positive)

Thanks cool thread... I know I could not take that car on some turns... Well I could take that guy but not the car lol

How come everyone says These cars (gt) runs high 13s???? I just don't see that... Feels at least a 13.5 and after the last 3 wins it would seem I could run a 13 flat... I however will not take it to the track yet because I'm extremely hard on cars when I get to a track... So I'm scared to launch it and power shift w/o having proper mods to keep me away from breaking my daily... I broke all 5 other stangs at the track :-(

When the Boss beat the M3, I think BMW shrugged it off because they still have the M5.

I don't know the boss was in the top 3 on the new road and track article... The 160k vette was #1.... I dont know if the m5 could beat it... Keep in mind if the boss was running stickier tires in this write up it could shave off another second or two

Hey how do u like ur shorty headers? Everyone says u get no power from them bla bla bla and they say the same thing about throttle bodies...but did u feel a good gain in power? And how was the sound improvement ?

Where you lose power you gain BEWST! Turbo flanges only really accept shorty headers for the conventional setup (in engine bay) so long tubes are out of the question for me. I would like to see some actual research on shorty headers compare to long tubes.
