How much longer?

I have a 2006 GT that I received new in November of 2005 that doesn't get driven a lot ( just over 10,000 miles). After the second occurance of a week battery ( I think some time in 2008), I purchased a Battery Tender, and have kept it on there when the car isn't being driven ever since. I'm still on the original battery and when I take the car out, it performs as new. Granted, when I do take the car out, it doesn't sit over night without the Battery Tender on it, just for a few hours. Am I pushing my luck with this battery?

Put a new battery in it. I got my 06 brand new in December of 05. I have about 17,000 miles so it sounds like I drive mine about as much as you. Went to a new battery a couple of years ago and haven't had a problem since.

If you're worried about it, you could always take it to a parts store and have it tested.

OK, resurrecting my own thread ...

The battery finally went this morning. Nice day, I'll drive the Mustang to work. Nope, but thanks for playing our game. Any way, I have a new battery waiting for me at the parts store. Does anyone see any harm in leaving the Battery Tender connected while I swap batteries to maintain the memory & computer settings?

Won't hurt it. Just make sure the wires don't touch or red touch ground. I've done that before to maintain settings.

Thanks. That's what I thought, but verification helps.

I didn't use a tender, I used a spare battery with jumper cables. But it worked. I don't see why the tender wouldn't work just as good

Swapped the battery with the Battery Tender connected and all went well. I covered the positive cable with a latex glove while the battery was out and the tender connected to avoid shorts.
