I've been thinking about raising mine, but I'm concerned about engine damage at the higher rpm's. Afterall, Ford set the redline at 6000 for a reason. Am I being paranoid?

My JLT tune raised it up. Not sure what it is set at. I have hit around 6400 and it did not trip.

Mine is set at 6700/6800...Steeda /SCT. As long as you are otherwise "Stock" i doubt I'd worry much about raising it. And even though there isn't a lot of extra power up there, you can "Run through" the sweet spot in the rpm curve by raising the limit a little.

I have mine at 6800, but if you're concerned, you wouldn't have to raise it to that level.

There's no point to raising the redline, there's no extra power up there on these motors.

your right there is no real extra power but the rmp`s climb real quick when you have a tune so it nice to have the redline rasied so you dont hit the stock readline.....

I agree. My useable power runs through about 6400 and I shift at or near that point. The stock limiter would not allow that rpm. Setting my limiter to 6800 was arbitrary. I'am glad the limiter is there as once I hit a patch of water?, (not sure what it was), but I hit the limiter faster than I could react. I was already at 6000 or so rpm at the time. Having useable hp and having extra hp are two different things.

Good point. It's no fun to hit that limiter.

Yup, it's the only reason I raised mine, so I don't hit it when I'm manually bangin my auto

That definitely makes sense now. Thanks.....think I'll do that too, especially since the 4.10's are going in and I'll be up there real quick.

Had a custom SCT tune done and he bumped it up. Pretty standard from what I hear.

I have mine shifting right at the downside of the torque curve which is 6240 and the limit is set at 6500 in case the auto screwes up.

Mine is set at 6700 but I shift around 6300-6400 rpm. Hitting the rev limiter is kinda embarrising.....but the ricer crowd might think the stuttering noise is COOL and you had to spend a few hundred bucks to find a custom part to make that sound.
