Horrible throttle responce w/Dougs Tune WTF!

Ok, I'm lost at the moment trying to figure out this problem! First I cleaned the MAF (just in case), pulled off the TB cleaned it good. Buttoned it all up again same prob. My car was performing better stock than it is with the tune. Could it be the TB sensor or the TB motor??. When I was cleaning the TB are the blades easy or hard to flip open? They seemed hard when I did though. Has there ever been an issue with flash tunes making your car suck worse thank stock?!?! Any help or ideas guys!

What did Doug say when you asked him about it?

Thats my next step. I just wondered if anyone else has had an issue like this before. Maybe it could have been something I could fix before hand.

+1 to that. There have been WAY WAY WAY too many threads like this on TMS. People have an issue and immediately post on the boards without giving the seller a chance to solve the problem.

Let's get something straight! did I bash, Dough.. NO!! This seems to be a usual on this forum every one has throw out their two cents & join the band wagon. If some how I've "disrespected" Dough, I apologize that was not my intention. So I you don't have any legitimate info why bother wasting your time on my questions. So again I was not trying to put any specific blame on Doug. I e-mailed him after my first post anyways, so I will go from their.

Oh, I don't know, how about the title of your post? "Horrible throttle responce w/Dougs Tune WTF!" (By the way, it is response. Additionally, if you are going to lay into Doug's tune, use the possessive to indicate it is indeed his tune.)

Whatever happened to emailing or calling the vendor to let them try and help out?

1) Should call Doug first ...

2) Unfortunately, Doug isn't the easiest to get in touch with quickly; well known/documented.

3) OP sure could have worded it better.

4) the pack mentality is alive and well on the internet.

+1...I don't understand what was so bad about this post. The guy had a question and he posted about it. If I were him, I would have emailed Doug first and immediately posted on here after that. In all honesty, I rather figure out the answer on my own or collectively figure it out by reading up or posting on any forum - that goes with any type of product. That way, I know it will stick in my noggin for future reference. If I can't figure it out that way, I will wait to hear from the vendor. In this case, I can see why he posted because tons of Mustang owners tune their stallions and he thought maybe it was a known problem. For someone entering the car modding world, as I have, the normal (mechanical/modder) might not know these type of things. I have learned many thing by reading on countless forums for these 9 months I have owned my Stang and because of this, have become very knowledgeable with cars, or at least I think I am. That being said, the title of this thread can be scrutinized, as he had know room to name it that.

I was actually looking at getting a tune from Doug very soon, and I am trying to get as much information as possible before I lash out on it, and I hope I make the right decision.

My 2 cents. Ya, before posting you should have attempted to get a hold of Doug and waited for his reply. Second, are you sure the proper tune was installed and not some canned tune? I have never heard anyone state they had poor throttle response after installing the tune.

I looked into this thread because I thought you were indeed bashing Doug in the thread title. He is a stand up guy and will make it right if given the chance.

Doug has gone above and beyond when fixing problems for me you need to email then call then post.

The title really throws you off and could have been worded differently to limit or prevent any potential flaming of a stand up member.

To give you a possible answer try re-loading your tune there have been times when the tune didn't take on the first upload.

that being said, the same could have happened to you, give them a call or email and they should be able to help you out

I think the real issue people are having with the tone of the original post is that tuners, like Doug, live and die by their reputation. Any newbie doing a search will pop up your thread, and it makes Doug look like he's incompetent, when he is ANYTHING BUT that. The reason that you have throttle response issues could be anything from a wide range of possibilities, and only one of them is that your specific tune file was mis-written. It could have been corrupted in the upload to the tuner, it could have been corrupted in the download to the vehicle, you could have a bad XCal, the PCM just choked, you could have inadvertently screwed up the settings or given Doug bad information to base his tune on...

Until you have contacted the vendor, and this should apply to tunes OR parts that you have problems with, it's best just to ask a generic question, without singling out the vendor until they have had a chance to try to work it out... How would it make you feel if we all posted asking what part of the order or tune upload you obviously screwed up? Doug doesn't need us to defend him, he's a big boy and a killer tuner, but pot-shots like yours can seriously damage his reputation, which is beyond unfair if there has been no attempt to reconcile the issue before a "WTF" post is slammed up.

Just my .02, and I'm really not getting on your case, but hoping you can see what potential for damage exists.

I may have missed it, but did you mention what tune you have? I, as well as others can say that his tunes are kick A$$. Especially his 92/93 race tunes.

I have heard of some problems with the torque tune, but I dont remember enough about it to talk about it.

Ya, Doug can be hard to get ahold of, but when you do, he wont let go of you until things are right. You might have jumped the gun a tiny bit, but you are human. I'm sure everyone else on here has posted something that wasn't perfect sometime before.

Good luck and keep us updated...
