Honda vs. Mustang (not really the place for this but it's amuseing)

A couple weeks ago I decided to go for a ride since my wife wasn't home yet and I was bored. So I headed out into the San Gabriel valley for a drive and make a big loop and come back. I was in all honesty out trolling.

I've not raced in over 4 years and really didn't have the taste for it but there I was.. out for blood.

I made my first big loop and rounded my points for a second loop... and on the way back I heard a loud buzzing noise in the distance and noticed the rear end of an Acura Integra flying down the street.

I played it cool and drove a little over the speed limit and caught this guy about 1 mile down the road turning right at a stop light.

I pulled up next to him, as i was going straight... and I heard a little rev next to me. I looked over and this kid is revving his engine and licking his lips like he's about to have horse steaks for dinner...

I just laughed at him and shook my head... the light went green and I pulled out slow, knowing he's probably going to keep going right... and as I pull out he slides in behind me... and once clear of the car next to me, I heard him downshift and rev really high to get up next to me...

At the stop light (this is 11 pm) in the dark I look over and he's revving and looking at me again. I looked over at him and he's smiling like he's going to do some damage.

As the light is about to go green I let the clutch out a little too much and drifted forward some and he revvs his motor really hight and does the same thing.... almost both of us drifting into the intersection.

Light goes green and all logic of launching went out the door... having not seen a showdown in 4 years I was a little overwhelmed by the hp/tq of this Mustang...

We both dropped the clutch and the Mustang kicked out to the side and lit the tires up all the way across the intersection. He did the same only was falling back as each second passed.

I had probably 1 length on him by the end of the intersection and I watched the rpm's hit redline and I pulled second gear and the Mustang hooked up and the car launched forward.....

When I pulled second I probably pulled anohter 2-3 lengths on him and shifted to third for a couple seconds and shut down. (short block).

I looked in my side mirror expecting to see him ready to line up again but what I saw in the street lights behind me was a white blurr as he dove off to the safety of side street/alley in disgrace.

I literally laughed the last 2 miles of my drive home....

It was clearly no contest but fun none the less.

Hey 06GTwBoost, I'm glad you waxed the honda and all, but seriously, take it to the track.......We have had tw0 fatal accidents here this week, both due to street racing. I'm not tryin to rip on you or anything........God knows I have gone to some housing additions where no houses are built yet (just roads) and lit my tires up, but the ricers aren't worth it man.

Good kill 06GTwBoost!

I *hate* those crappy little ricer Hondas with a passion, and any spanking that can be administered to them is most welcome.

OKLACOP: Take what to the track? The ricer isn't going to go...

right on, 06GTwBoost!

I absolutley annihilated a new '06 Civic (you know, the 200hp ones, woop de doo) tonight! Pulled on him instantly and I had easily 6-8 car lengths on him before letting off! Kid was cool, though, and give me a thumbs up...

I gave him props for not doing the "ricer escape" into the nearest side street! Oh, and in all fairness, his Civic wasn't riced out. It's actually a nice looking little car that I wouldn't mind as a daily driver.

Those ricers are like pesky flies- always buzzy around with those fart cans thinking that they can "out-run" anything. What it is, IS ingonance, hence, why I usually ignore them... Too much TV(F&F), I think. Generally, the only "ricers" that can compete with the Stang are on two wheels, not four.

1. I'm going to the track I just couldn't resist it since there was noone around... I'm a track guy... I just had my "moment".

2. I used to have a Acura Integra GSR and did my own work except for the built block. It was turbocharged, built block (sleeved, pistons rods crank etc.)... all the go fast parts you need and can get... and it was pretty **** fast. (~300whp and some odd torque, i dont remember)

I'm seeing things from the other side of the fence and knowing there are cars like my old car out there, it's not long before i'm being handed my ***, even on the track.

What I like about this mustang is how it reacts to mods and it's potential.

Willow springs next month, my first road coarse... i cant wait.

I love the Stoplight grand prix. I remember I had this clown in a cavalier or something like the pull up to me one day when I had my old 420hp Camaro. This kid had the sack to tell me that he "was gonna make me wish I didn't have that car!" If the lump of my engine and exhaust wasn't enough of a deterant, the light turned green and I was smoked him before I got thru second gear. I luv stupid ignorant people!

Not fully understanding What you are saying. But If they were so great!maybe you need to buy another Acura!
If it was so Great! Sounds like you won't be happy with a Mustang.

I guess if you love mustangs you cant love any other cars? Whatever happened to the CAR enthusiast? Too many people think their specific car is the best and everything else is crap. There are a ton of sweet cars out there.

There is no such thing as a car enthusiast these days.

It's the "brand name" (honda! Ford! Chevy!) sack riders that have all but ruined the sport. Ignorance is bliss!

I was just commenting on the "i hate ricers and riceburners" comment. I've seen both sides of the fence and it's funny how many people hate other types of cars... it's hilarious.

Import guys think domestics are all rednecks... and domestics think all imports are ricers.

I was about to order a Civic Si until I saw the 1/4 times... low 15s stock if you shift right, otherwise high 15s. The new Dodge Caliber supercharged isn't too bad but it looks like a$$ but runs 14s stock.

I'm a firm believer in "there's no replacement for displacement" All I've ever owned is American Muscle. That's not to say I wouldnt by an import. to each his own.

The V6 Mustang will do that, and it's not the "performance" model (like the Si is).

The V6 was priced a few thousand below the GT, but I knew that if I went with an engine that was missing 2 cylinders, I'd be kicking myself for the next 20 years for not getting the GT.
