Afternoon fellow mustangers,
Friday may little girl came home finally, over two weeks to move one decal and weather going for a crap I brought her home to work on, she has to go back in the spring for a follow up as I am not happy with the headlight bezels. but body and paint are done (for now)This winters plans are suspension, Driveline, Engine and exhaust. After reading this Forum for over a year there are a few thing I want to do to ensure her reliability. Also along the way she will get a little dressing up on the inside. Just thought I would share some of what's going to be done. She is an 05 with 140,000 KM's my son had her and need out so I sold him my T-Bird and payed of the rest of his loan. the Objective is to have her trucked to Windsor Ontario, drive to Detroit to watch the drags on Woodward Ave. Drive to Chicago and then 66 all the way to California, turn right and do the Coast all the way to Port Angles, take the Coho to Victoria and drive home. First finish the car and make it as reliable as possible, next resave everything I spent doing the first, Have no Pandemic and go. Stay tuned and if you like enjoy, if not so Sorry. Home Friday Jan 22 So she is in her room Car parts, first to be done Suspension And more car parts, with more on order Day one start Lower control arms upgraded End of Day one
So I'm just guessin' here... Ford lowering springs (looks like Ps, but probably the lower ones...), Koni Oranges, BMR rear lowers poly/poly in black, GT500 upgrade front control arms? The panhard bar I'm not familiar with, but it's probably paired with the also unfamiliar to me rear upper setup... but that driveshaft I am, as it's the Ford Performance aluminum one, right?
Overall That setup should handle real nice, and that driveshaft will give ya a little extra oomph too. I know I felt it after swappin' mine out!
Thanks all, cant wait to be done. Houtex, RTR and there is some ford performance in the back as well. I have done some mixing and matching so it will look a little like Christmas lights underneath with the different colors but I read and researched and went for the favorable reviews. Honestly I am no longer racing a 67 with a big block but do want the comfort. That said the first vehicle I was building up for 66 was a 46 ****** 2A, three vehicles later..... with all the reading it gave me an idea of what to tackle this year like searching for the cause of a small tick in the right bank of the engine. I've now ordered the timing set, lifters and rockers, Cams, water pump, and oil pump due not in part to a certain members post, Thanks. But why stop there, pulleys, silicone hoses and an aluminum rad right.and maybe well stay tuned.
So you have your work cut out for you. Sounds like an amazing trip you have planned. Love to do the Route 66 and Pacific Coast Highway some day. Those are on my bucket list. Keep us posted on the mods/restore process. And love to see pictures of your future travels. Sounds like a very enjoyable journey.
So, last March I was working at Con Expo in Vegas, My sweetie drove down and we were going to do a week or so traveling and driving home, We were still there when things were shut down, old Vegas on St. Patrick's day then route 66 all businesses were starting to shut down but I wanted to meet Angle as he is getting up there in years, first one closed, we did 66 to the Grand Canyon back to Vegas and headed North to Tahoe, it became real when we got to area 51 and could not eat indoors served us take out and we stared at a deserted town looking out at area 51, did a couple of ghost towns that were even more so empty, then Tahoe, only 3 vehicles in the parking lot. Stayed a couple of days and drove around as there was nobody then headed North, no vehicle on the roads and went straight through Seattle without touching the brakes. Kinda spookie. St Patrick's Day old Vegas >mpty Ghost town Lake Tahoe Angles store on 66
Thank you, The original had a couple of tweaks and was starting to separate, so when I saw one that looked like my old 69 I had to have it, the bezels need a little more work but the body shop can deal with that in the spring.
I was in Vegas in August of 2018 with my wife, she was there for work and I loved it there. I had a great time and will for sure go back as soon as possible. I liked it so much I wanted to move there. I told her i will go work at shelby lol. Pipe dream
Thanks all, Front end is back together, just have to rough set up toe and camber-castor. now the back end, crap the dif is rusty, clean and paint as I go I suppose pulled the exhaust and will finish that out hopefully today, then I will remove the driveshaft that should give me alot of freedom to do the rear suspension and I am replacing any way.
Trip pictures for you, Mall parking lot at Tahoe in March, nobody there, us having breakfast at area 51 ALONE and some model A and B I think parts pallets of rear-ends fenders everything, Fun fact, the building in the back was a rail yard.
God day all,
Well most everybody has done by now what I am doing so I am sure the surprises I find are all old, finished the front headed for the rear might as well pull the exhaust to make it easier, no issues, hey driveshaft now's the time other than someone over Loctited every bolt no big issue. Got up and cleaned the tunnel and am quite surprised as to how good everything really is under the car Except the diff. not sure if ford used Datsun's to build the housings or paint wasn't an option but I'm now chipping away to clean it enough to put some rust converter and POR on the housing I saw the Pinion seal had been leaking and most likely because the Steady bearing was on its way out, so, cleaned everything up and changed that out yesterday, thought it was a good time to fit the Blowfish on the trans as I am hoping that it will help my 2nd gear shifting all went smooth till I got to the trans mount..... she no fit, found out early in 05 it was a different style and one new mount later its in. Then the isolators on the trans mount for the exhaust could not find new ones, thanks to the forum I found out they don't exist in later years either so, knocked them off. Starting on the rear suspension well shocks were shot no surprises and I have new, then to the upper link I have an adjustable and mount to go in as the isolator was shot anyway and I want to make sure I get the right Pinion angle when done. so unbolt everything and the bracket does not come out, did not see that in the forums, I have to lower the fuel tank, welcome to today Blowfish is in, isolators are gone. And a travel picture for the day
I think they are swearing at us about snow again next week but that's what the Jeep is for, spare time is get her running for good weather, oh, and I was told the dam boat better get new manifolds and .......... I digress never a shortage.
Yeah I have been trying to paint some stuff here and there under the hood and under coat mine but with work and snow and more snow and oh yeah kids and snow its slim pickings around here lol
Happy Friday all,
As I have said before just about everyone else has done this and I am a little late to the table, but for this year the back end is now done just going to clean the trunk area and under the back seat (found a whole 5 cents) then I will measure center for the dif. and do my driveline angles, oh, not so fast cant do that till the new engine mounts are in. Ok measure center and get started on the engine. Uh question, has anyone installed the Steeda water pump? with Covid I could not get an Edelbrock water pump so I ordered the Steeda. Cutting out the E Brake cable for removal. New Installed with help from Ford Performance Rogers Pass, hick up to the top looking into B.C.
