I just noticed that both my mufflers have a tiny hole on the bottom part, just next to the rear end, and condensed water is sometimes dripping out. The holes are identical and look machined. The car is brand new, driven 1 week only, which makes me exclude the possibility of rust.
Does anybody else have them?! Are those holes supposed to prevent build-up of water in the mufflers?

First I've heard of that Louie. I would think that the holes are going to get larger over time due to corrosion.

I believe that they are supposed to be there. On my past few cars I've notices little holes in the mufflers at the bottom of the front or rear side of the muffler.

Those holes are intended to let any condensation that's in the exhaust system drip out. Just about any muffler will have them, nothing to worry about.

Thanks guys, that's what I thought too: the holes are there with a purpose.

Yeah, a lot of times people may run their car not quite long enough for the pipes to heat up and evaporate the moisture, and that sits inside the muffler...not good.

Mufflers usually rust inside out for that very reason
