Hitachi/Tokico Warranty Sucks!

[rant]

Tokico,

So my customers who have problems with DSpecs are supposed to pay to ship 40+lb. packages from California back to us in Philadelphia, PA. From there, we're supposed to pay to ship 40+lb. packages to you in CALIFORNIA so that you can inspect? From there you'll ship back to us for minimal fees, and expect us to ship another 42+lb. package back to our customers less than a few hours from you? Total costs for us: roughly $80-100 dollars, total cost to customer approx. $25-30 dollars. And... WEEKS in transit?

What exactly are you smoking?!?

The only HALF reasonable way to go about this is to rely on screwing a warehouse I've been doing business with for 29 years, and send them back to them (three of only three sets I bought from them in a jam, thank god they're not serialized) and let them pay freight to you idiots. Customer still has to pay freight to us, and we still have to pay freight to customer. Still atleast 2 weeks, but now it just costs us and customer $25-30 a piece.

My request: YOU send a call tag to my customers and pick the friggin pieces up or let my customers send them to you (MUCH CHEAPER) and you send a new set back to them. Then we can reimburse our customers for YOUR problem, but atleast it'll be like 10-15 bucks. They're in the SAME STATE!

In the mean time, you're telling my customers to BUY a new set, and then have us send a new set out and credit them back if it's warrantied? How about my credit card processing fees? What about the customer paying interest? I know this is little, but you're already asking both us and the customer to shelf a ****LOAD of money out for you to say "Oh yea, our fault... here's a new set!"

It's my responsibility to stand by my customers and help them. "Stand by" not ****ing PAY for your manufacturing **** ups! Fix this, or I won't sell one more set of DSpecs (check my purchasing history) AND I'll make sure everyone knows about the problems that arose.

[/rant]

Well said. I'm one the people affected by Tokico's BS and I've been stuck with a set of broken shocks and struts for over a month now thanks to their crappy customer service and warranty policy. I've never seen an aftermarket company with such a horrible warranty policy. I remember back when I had a set of flowmasters with the broken baffle issue. I called flowmaster and told them and they had a brand new set shipped to me for free within the week. Then they even paid for the pick-up and shipping of the damaged set once they were off my car. All said in done I had a new set of flowmasters back on my car within 6-7 days. The way Tokico's doing things I have remove their crappy shocks and struts and go back to stock and then wait for them to ship the replacements so I can install those. Assuming I wasn't doing the swap myself imagine how much money in shop labor fee's I'd be spending to essentially pay for three installs for something that's Tokico's fault.

Two thumbs down to Tokico for screwing your customers and your vendors.

Amen-- I hate to say it, but you get what you pay for, and it's one one reason I much prefer Koni over Tokico D-Specs for these cars. I've used both, and won National Champioships on both over the last two years. I feel Koni's have the edge on the control side by a bit, but by a mile on quality and warranty side.

Kudo to you Chris for telling the truth. I was within a few weeks of getting the D-specs but after seeing your post I will do a little more study. That is plain if it costs the customer to get replacements for their issues. Thanks for speaking up!!!!!!!!!!!

Um, I guess I won't be buying any DSpecs soon. I can imagine what my shipping costs from Canada back to the US would be.

Clunking, harsh ride on soft adjustment, unable to adjust (ie. car feels the same on settings on both the soft and hard side).

Your rear starts to pucker up knowing that it's going to get screwed by Tokico warranty claims department.

+1 to what Sam said. I bought my Koni's from him over the past summer and never looked back. I probably should have tried to get a replacement shock from Tokico and sell them, but I didn't feel like the hassle. I will say side by side the Koni's just look so much better. On the road, I perfer the Koni's and can say without a doubt it was one of the best moves I made.

I totally agree, and honestly it was their warranty which has always kept me from carrying them and when customers contact me about getting them I do everything in my power to persuade them.

A company may make a great product, but in my opinion, a company is only as good as it's policies and integrity. I feel like they make it so difficult to do a warranty claim as a deterrence. I guess they figure you will do a cost, time / benefit analysis and decide to cut your losses because of all the BS that's involved

Tokico is Tokico's worst enemy!

Tillman = Awesome

Bought my D-Specs from him. Customer service was amazing and he goes the distance to help the buyer. I still have more things I need to buy from him

Hopefully my D-Specs don't poop A little worried now.

which Koni shock is comparable to the D-spec? I'm guessing the Sport Shock. I'm looking to lower my car a bit and, ideally, improve ride quality for daily driving and improve handling for spirited driving
