Thumbs up

Hi Guys,
When I use the 91 octane tune with the stock air box, the throttle response is great.
When I use the JLT with the custom tune, the throttle response is delayed.
Do you have the same problem? I bought the JLT and tune used, my car is otherwise completely stock.
Thanks,
Paul.

First a couple questions

1.) Where is the tune from?

2.) Did the guy who had it before you do some tweaking?

3.) Did you just install the CAI?

If so

4.) did you disconnect the battery while installing the CAI?

If not

5.) give the car some time to recognize your new setup. Say 100-200 miles.

I'm right there with-ya. I've gone back to my stock box and running the predator 87 octane tune for the winter and the throttle response is much better as well as the engine will actaully slow the car down again, unlike the tune that I got with the JLT intake.

With the DTP tune I have, the throttle response from 2K to redline (or higher ) is great, but was still weak off idle to 2K. The throttle body spacer took care of the rest. The TBS/JLT combo kicks ****

Have the TBS and JLT with DTP tune and throttle lag is horrible. Will have to do something in the spring to correct this, maybe switch to SCT tuner.

The tune is from DTP.

2.) Did the guy who had it before you do some tweaking?
He had Magnaflows on his car, but says otherwise the same.

3.) Did you just install the CAI?
After install, used data log to check long fuel trims. They were at about -11~-14% Took about 9% out on the MAF curve to to get them at about 0 +- 3%. Drove it like that for about 1500 miles. Took it off for the winter and went back to stock box with 91 tune. I hope to find answers before I put it back this spring, lag on downshifts drove me nuts! I

I got a JLT CAI (verson 1 with metal insert) and the DTP tune was OK but was not optimum for my 05 GT automatic.

There was a lot of throttle lag but there was a lot of throttle lag bone stock as well - so I don't blame either the JLT CAI or the DTP tune.

I believe that the stock automatic 05GT programming is messed up.

However Doug at Bamachips fixed me right up and now my 05GT automatic flies - wooohooo

The throttle delay is gone and the automatic gear shifting is a lot firmer.

If you have an automatic 05GT/06GT and have delays, speak to Doug

I had the JLT/DTP combo, and my et's actually went down. I went from 13.6 stock to 13.8. I sold the predator and JLT, and spoke to Lidio at Alternative Auto. I got the C & L and X-cal 2 and my best since has been 13.2.

I have the JLT with the metal insert. The DTP tune that came with it is a very good tune and in combination with the TBS, the throttle lag while accelerating was just about gone. My problem was the throttle hang was still there when you let off the gas. The actual JLT unit is very nice (and the latest version seems perfect).

After contacting Doug at Bamachips, he emailed me a tune to try (only had to pay if I liked it--how cool is that!) and I liked it a lot more. He's also going to work on tweaking it a bit to dial in a little more engine braking. Basically, I won't be completely satisfied until it feels like there is a throttle cable in there both with my foot in it, or off it. It may take an in-person road/dyno tune to get there, though.

I have very little lag with the jlt/xcal2 combo.

BTW with this combo, my mph at the track went from 98mph to 102mph.

Mine is a manual transmission. I found the lag most annoying when I would blip the throttle to downshift, there was this big delay before anything would happen... drove me nuts and made it very hard to downshift smoothly! :bang:
I had not tried it at the track with the pipe on the car, but it did feel like it had more top end on the street however.

I've gotten some fast runs with my JLT/DTP tune I will say other than the throttle lag. That's all I've got done to my car and i've run a 13.3 @ 106mph so that's not too shabby. Don't dismiss the JLT intake, just look into a different tune.

I got the C&L intake/sct2/tbs and dougs 93torque tune. I still have the lag once and while..I wish it would go away completely. I do run good times though..13.5 at 103mph in my auto down here in florida. I would like to compare alternatives auto tune compared to dougs.anyone know how much emailing or sending a tune on a cd-rom would cost from alternative auto?
