Doug's tunes are usually very close to dead on. Even if it was slightly rich, it wouldnt cause serious idle issues?

I think you will find your problem in the throttle body.

I wouldn't do what I said and adjust the spring until the car isn't driveable. That is the problem we were having. We had no choice but to temporarily adjust the spring to get the guy to the dealership.

It's a spring that twists and holds and releases tension that way. It was just our only way to get it going.

Let the dealer work their magic!

thanks CR yeah I have never had an issue w/one of Dougs tunes before...my concern is what if the dealership cant replicate the problem.. then they wont replace the TB.. should I just get an after market TB?? Would that fix the problem you think? I think I'm gonna reinstall the 1st JLT and see what happens.. I had no probs until I installed the new version of it.. since then its been nothing but problems.

Actually, I believe Ford has a TSB out for this. They are aware of the issue from what we were told. An aftermarket throttle body isn't neccessary until you're getting into supercharger, cams, turbo, nitrous type modifications because of the problems they've been having.

Give the JLT a shot again, but I think you'll find yourself making an appointment and pulling it off and replacing the stock airbox very soon in the future. Lucky it's a quick job!

Good luck, brother. Let us know how it turns out!

don't do it
the MAF ports are different sizes and the JLT-II tune is probably gonna run you a bit rich with the series 1 JLT

lol..
man if the problem was reproducable with the stock air box.. why don't you just take her in tomorrow to the dealer and have them check your TB?
i don't get why you're chasing your tail on this one!.. it's under warranty and you have nothing to worry about!

well.. just came baqck ansd STILL havin g that problem.. the rpms dont drop as fast now as they did withthe series 2 but it still stalled on me twice. once on a straight away. was going about 55 and quickly slowed down and it stalled. I'm just worried that if I take it to ford and it doesnt happen withthem then they wont replace anything. I remember reading about people also having issues w/the fuel pump. I got my GT in Oct of 2004 so its one of the early ones. I have already had the shaker 1000 and the gas tank replaced. Wonder if i need a few more things to be replaced.

it didnt happen withthe stock air box.. you see about 6 mnths ago I was having a very similar problem.. took it to the dealer and what they told me was that since my rear tires were bigger then the front that is was my Traction control and there recommendation was to just drive with it off. Well now I have all 4 tires the same size. I guess I'm worried that if they drive it and it doesnt do it the one time they are in the car then they wont replace anything. What do I do them?

i'm not talking to you till you take it to ford and see what they have to say
THEN worry whether they'll do it or not

you've had the problem show up with the JLT-II and a tune, JLT and a tune, stock airbox with the stock ECU.. it's obvious, your problem is NOT the darn air intake neither is it the tune.
slap the stock stuff back on.. flash it stock and send it in
if it helps, film it and show them the film if the problem miraculously disappears tomorrow morning

You'll be fine. The dealership will be able to reproduce the problem. It's not a problem that magically goes away... it goes away and comes right back next time the car is started.

I would say send it in. If theres a problem that they cant reproduce, do as GT said above and film what it does and send it back in.

anyone have a link or a copy of the TSB for the throttle body? Yeah I think that's the best.. just take it to ford and see what they can do. All I know if this has to be fixed soon.. I should be getting the stage 3 cams pretty soon.

Just took a look at that heat shield... Nice! Once my car is actually running I think I'm gonna need to get my hands on one of those.

I'm getting the Paxton s/c installed tomorrow at Brenspeed, I was going to get the delete plates but now I'm wondering if I should go with the BBK t/b instead. I didn't know there has been a problem with the stock t/b. Any suggestions which route to go ?
