Just wondering how the economy is effecting your modding passion.

When the economy goes south, discretionary spending normally goes down - yes, that includes car modding

I've stopped modding my car for now until my financial situation improves.

Yes. Put off the blower. That's all I've got left. I've even already got the radiator. I figured I can't feed my family with a blower.

I know, but when the world ends I can head for the mountains. And besides the Bronco is still worth what I paid for it the blower I would have to sell in tough market.

I "celebrated" gas rising above $4 per gallon this year by installing the supercharger shortly thereafter!

Yes it has. I wanted a Whipple for a winter project until the price increase. So I guess I will get a few bolt on's and leave it at that.

I am actually looking more now, shops will fear a slowdown in economy and will want to move their inventory. They will lower prices and cut deals if the market slows down, so they can stay afloat.

Same thing goes for buying cars and trucks. Put it this way, if I were in the market for another car this would be the best time, the companies are scrambling to get every penny out the customer by raising quality and lowering prices.

The entire ford lineup has gotten way better than it used to be. The cars are more reliable and they quality has gone up drasticaly. The prices in reference to inflation have gone down.

The best thing all of us can do in this faltering economy is to support American made product and lower the support for foreign made things. Japanese and European cars are a prime example.

I cant stand people that buy something because they precive it as superior. Case and point would be some of my coworkers who bought Japanese and German cars, their cars get to stay in the shop while my car stays on the road. Then they argue American made goods are inferior and then ***** and moan the economy has gone down the crapper. Simple answer is to keep money in the economy, our economy and support the home team. Ford and gm cant be so bad, over 100years worth of history. My great grandfather owned a ford in Europe, a model t and later a model A nearly 100years ago when the stuck up companies in Europe sold only to the rich, there is a lesson to be learned here.

Support the small shops, buy while you can buy, worry about the economy later. Let the rest of the planet suck on a lollipop.

I was hoping to find a sponsor to help out with getting a blower but doesn't look like that is going to happen. I don't see any major mods in my future. Reality has set in. Besides I need some new tires already

Nope, my car's exactly the way I've wanted it and I don't have any expensive mods to do. The only future plans I have are for a grille emblem and maybe to spray some tinted clear on my exhaust tips, etc to give the black chrome effect. The economy won't affect these cheap mods.

It is tougher for me. With all the expenses going up, it is tough to feed my family and my mod bug in equal amounts. Did just get a set of wheels/tires though (but those were 8 months in the making, and I had to pull some strings......)
