GTA's ON !!!

Hey Ya’ll,

I got the GTA’s on this week. Most of you will know what I’m talking about when I say I struggled and struggled with what to put on. I read a lot of good threads on all the different mustang sites. There were a lot of praises and complaints about all mufflers and options but hardly anyone complained about the GTA. The only negative thing said was that they could be a little louder. So I went with the GTA’s. I must admit when I left the muffler shop I thought I made a mistake. They were quiet. But, after a little driving, I must admit they are worth every penny. They are better than the stock mufflers. AND, what hardly anyone talked about were the tips. These things are awesome. I have included some pictures so you all can see the difference. Thank you all for the input. Hopefully, this will help you as well. Now to the garage to put on the C&L CAI and the DiabloSport Predator tune. More to come.

Hi George,
Welcome to the forum! You will love the GTA's. They do get some what louder after they break in. I can't tell where you live but if you are not worried about the EPA police get a off road mid pipe and loose the cats. That will wake up those GTA's. Trust me.

Yep, give them 800 -1000 miles to age and you'll love them.

Ditto, and wait till you hear them with a tune! Totally quiet in normal driving until you get on it-perfect exhaust for the S197.

Hmmm, you guys are swaying me to try these on my car. I have a set on the shelf that I haven't tried yet. I love my Stingers, but they do tend to interfere with phone conversations a bit.

Nice car and I think you have to stripe the spoiler like you did or the car would look strange.

Buy the FRPP X pipe and it will liven up the GTA's alittle more and give you a small amount of additional HP. The tips on the GTA's are great!

Ditto on adding a H - Pipe, the Pypes H sounds great and it really opens the GTA's up. This set up seems to be in the middle, not to loud or quiet.

Thanks for the write-up. I struggled with exhaust for a long time, too, and ended up getting the GTAs. They came Friday and I hope to get them put on next week. You guys are making me think about the FRPP x-pipe now...

Welcome to the club!

I have them with the FRPP X-Pipe and love them! Quiet-ish when normally driving, but you smash the gas pedal and they are awesome!

I've put almost 2k on the original manual mufflers and they have gotten louder. I've gotten some backfiring/snarling during startup. I can hear them crackling after I shut off the engine when I park the car.

I was thinking about getting some aftermarket axlebacks, specifically ones that do not drone as much as the stock mufflers on the highway.

I think the only way you could get the stockers to drone be be shift gears at 1200 rpm's on every shift.

On the highway, I usually cruise at 65-80 mph which puts me in the 1800-2500 RPM range in 5th gear. If I load down the engine in any amount, I will hear the exhaust drone. For a short duration, I don't mind it because it sounds kind of cool especially when you hear it bounce off other cars/trucks. However, for a long trip, the stock exhaust drone was getting on my nerves.

I don't like listening to loud music (Shaker 500 is set to 2 full bars MAX, usually 1-1.5 bars for comfort) so I can't drown it out with the audio system.

Do any of the aftermarket axle-back mufflers drone more than the stock manual mufflers?

The drone usually appears at around 1800-2500 RPM in any gear.
