After owning SEVERAL fox bodies, I am more than happy with the current setup. Could it be better? Sure, but it is a MAJOR upgrade from what I am used to.

I like it, but I hear cluncks every time I get in my garage, I guess it is normal for the diff on the back, but I have a nissan truck with diff on the back too and never does any weird sound...
I guess they could have done it better.
but it is true, great improvement from foxes.
I had a '89 4cil conv. and it was terrible...

I'd say from the factory stock, it's ok but nowhere near perfect.

Once I put on a nicer set of swaybars the car handled much much much much better in turns. Once I stuck the springs and tokico's on, the car responded much better IN those turns.

I was never a handling and suspension kinda guy... get meon the 1320 and i was happy. Now though after riding on a road coarse it changed my thinking and with the mustang that was the first thing i did, was suspension.

the factory suspension is good for someone who never mods a car or never knew how good a good suspension setup was.

I really comes down to what you are comparing it too.
I am totally satisfied for a car in it's price range and power.
It sure blows away the handling of the musclecars from when I started driving.

A GOOD racing suspension is probably something you do not want to use on the road as a daily driver. It's all about trade-offs, and Ford did a great job with the S197 GT.

I like it. It could use a bit heavier rear sway bar and maybe a set of shocks. But the spring rates are pretty good. And the stance is pretty nice IMO.

It's pretty good stock but now I'm in the process of putting FRPP sway bars on.

I agree... The stock GT suspension is a good compromise between ride comfort and handling. It's not so stiff it's uncomfortable as a daily driver, yet it still handles pretty well. Of course there's always room for improvement, but I don't think I'd want super high spring rates and heim joints instead of rubber bushings on a daily driver....

+1. I'm with these guys. Plus, besides the dreaded wheel-hop, our cars hook up pretty well at the track with just a set of decent tires. Happy with the stock suspension- yes . Happy with the stock tires- no .

Too soft, too much sway...

I've found the ride to be a bit too soft. I expect the mustang to be a sports car, pure and simple. If I wanted a luxury car I would have bought one.
I've since added the Steeda Ultralights and will soon replace the shocks. My former ride was a Mazda 3 that handled better than the mustang for $10k less

The car is very well balanced out of the wraper and does not have any bad manners from a stability stand point. Its forgiving and easy to recover.

I hear a lot of people wishing for stiffer sway bars, but I am not so sure this is a weakness. Some body roll is desirable from a visual que stand point, and most do not understand that the heavier the sway bars, the stiffer (harsher) the suspension is for those single bump occurances (very common). Those who lower w/o correcting the front roll center will have more roll contribution from the front.

My only complaint a this stage is the factory shock valving. Just starting to get familiar with the Tokio D's and they seem a definite improvement.

I am a suspension fanatic so it's not surprising that I'm not satisfied with it stock.

I ordered my car in March 05 without even a test drive.
My car arrived April 14th and the Steeda swaybars were here April 7th so go figure.

I'm with you on the tires. These puppies suck!!! Does anyone else's Pirelli's shimmy in this cold weather for the first couple of miles when you start out?? Can't wait to get my new rims and Nittos from Steeda. Only improvement I plan in the future to the stock suspension is a good set of shocks from Steeda or Tokico. I think this is the area that really can be improved on easily.
