Exclamation GT gas mileage...

What kind of gas mileage are other GT owners getting?

Of course i didn't buy a GT hoping for very high gas mileage, but i just want to make sure that the mileage i'm getting is not because there is something wrong with the car. I have a 2006 GT completely stock (with the exception of CDC ducktail)...no mods...yet. I drive very normal and i get about 13-13.5 on average per tank. I reset the computer after each refil and to my own math to make sure it adds up. Even when i used to drive much further in the morning when almost 16 of my total 17.5 miles to work were interstate going @75-80 MPH my fuel efficiency was still around 16.5.

So my question is, is it normal that i wasn't even getting on the highway what the projected mileage is for the city???

I know about the testing and how it's done and how it's not a realistic scanario and all that and i work for an oil and gas company so i don't really care that my car gets poor mileage. I don't even care so much that it's not even close to the "promised" mileage. I just want to make sure there's nothing wrong with it that needs to be addressed.

I'd appreciate some feedback and advice. Thank you in advance.

P.S. First mods coming in this week...new tires (285/40-R18), some goodies from Midwest Auto and Silverhorse Racing. Thinking about Steeda Ultralites and new MGW shifter...I'd love some thoughts about my plans as well.

I get about 27.5 mpg cruising at 60-65 mph.

when I do a 200 mile/3 hour drive b/w VA and NC, of which ~80 miles are at 65 mph, and the rest is at 70-75, I average right at 25 mpg.

My only performance mods are a K&n filter and corsa exhaust. The best speed for the car is ~60 mph. Once you get over 75, it seems to drop pretty quick.

BTW, this is in a manual with 3.55's

The best I've done so far is on a trip to Charleston, SC. Running 65-70mph, I averaged 27.8mpg. On another trip to Greensboro, NC, while running 80-90, I averaged 26.5mpg. Right now, the computer shows I'm averaging 20.8 in what is mostly city type driving back & forth to work. (~6 miles with six stoplights and four stopsigns - 5 spd manual/3.55 axle ratio)

I lve in Los Angeles with a lot of stop and go traffic. When you combine that with me nailing the throttle every chance I got; I was averaging about 13 mpg around town...so my numbers look really close to yours.

I have only had the car for about three weeks now. It wasn't until I had an opportunity to drive it on the open highway out to Palm Springs this weekend when I saw that I got a wopping 20mpg and I was opening it up a lot. It's amazing how much of a difference there is in gas milage when driving on the highway. Plus, I'm beginnning to think that my milage is getting better because the car is breaking in. Two weeks ago, for my second tank of gas, I only got 12mpg.

I was getting 17-18 in traffic. for the last 3 weeks it got a lot colder in New York now i'm getting 15mph. I belive this is due to letting the car warm up int the Morning

Gas mileage all depends on how you drive it. Drive it like you stole it, and you will get awful gas mileage no matter what road conditions are. Drive it easy like you would any other car and you'll get good mileage.

I always get around 20 mpg on my normal driving.

on the highway you get way more, over 25mpg if you keep it at 60+-

if you get a tune, my personal opinion is that you get the 93 or 91 oct tunes, believe it or not, the most expensive gas gives more MPG so at the end, you save money with a high Oct tune.
I got the race 93 and that thing is amazing!!!
I feel I am driving a GT500

I get about 27.5 mpg cruising at 60-65 mph. When I run at 80 mph it drops to 24.7 or so. Just around town it varies quite abit but nothing under 18 mpg normally. The more stop and go driving and low speed driving I do it get lower, the lowest I have got was 16.5. I only drive to work about 5 miles away and I do get it up to 70 or so. But if I make a lot of trips to the store it will drop pretty quick from my usual 21-22 mpg.

On road trips I get 24.8mpg @75-80mph. Driving to and from work, 20 miles each way on the interstate I get 22-23mpg @ 75-80mph. Some days you need to get home quicker than others.. This is with an 07gt Auto

I've been tracking my mileage since driving off the lot... the electronic MPG guage is very accurate (compared to the ole dividing miles by gallons). In -town driving I'm averaging 18.8mpg, and all freeway ave is 26.

Minimum 16.8 (Happened when I was in CO, playing in the snow and getting stuck)

Average 21.4

Best 25.6 - Highway driving around 55-65ish in the mountains

Thats after about 20 fillups and 5700 miles.

If you live in a city like LA (like I do) you will get bad mileage--period.

I get 14 if I'm lucky. Usually it's around 13-13.5 and I don't drive my car hard at all.

I've got about 6k miles now.

I get 13 in town, live in southern California, so lots of traffic lights and stop and go traffic.

After reading all of these threads about MPG, seems I'm getting some of the worse on this site. I managed 22ish on an extended freeway trip with cruise set at 80.

Your mpg sounds about right to me.

In my 03 Honda Civic I only got 18-22 in town but freeway netted 38-40. So when people claim to get 16 or better in town with their Mustang, it makes me wonder if I'm always driving up hill against the wind or something...
