Ouch. There's an a-hole who I've seen a few times on my way to work, and the guy is always weaving in an out of lanes and wanting to get it on - right in the thick of the morning commute. Since I have at least half a brain and never race in any kind of traffic, I always let him sail on by (surely just pumping his ego). Yesterday, I met up with him on a quieter stretch, and while putting about 3/4 car length per shift between me and his '04 GT (twice! ), we ended up next to each other for a third time at the next light.

Signal changes, we roll, and I take it to about 5800, shift to second - AND COMPLETELY missed! GGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRIND! :bang:

So, my question: what kind of damage, if any, did I do to my tranny? Should I be worried? I suspect (and recall hearing) that these manual trannys are pretty bullet-proof, but what do y'all think? Will my tranny be OK?

The damage to your ego/rep was worse than it was to the tranny
