Granatelli Throtte body Problems
Hey guys i been lurking around here for some time now but i finally decided to post something. I need everyones help on this. i have the granatelli throttle body for my 2005 gt. it was working for a while but for the last month or so the idle has been weird. it would surge up to about 1500 rpms then drop suddenly to about 500 rpms. A wrench light would come on under the speedometer and i would have to pull the car over and restart the car for everything to go back to normal. Long story short, i want to keep it because it worked great while it was working and i would like to know how to fix this problem. No it didnt require a tune, but i no longer believe that. what can i do?

I replaced mine with the stock one, but my setup's a little different than yours. It is my opinion that a tune is a good idea--if not required--any time a change in air intake in implemented.

Any tune you use with the stock TB will get rid of the throttle lag. It is an issue with the computer program, not with the throttle body. The TB reacts to what the computer tells it to do, and the computer tells it to LAG!! CRAP!!!

I would stick with the granatelli and get a tune from Bamachips. If that doesn't cure it, put the stock TB back on and get an updated tune from Doug (usually free) for the stock TB. You should be very happy with not only the throttle lag issue but the tune in general will really wake up the 'Stang!!

Great topic. I too was thinking about getting an aftermarket tb but not I can't decide if I should. I saw another post where Don_W said that he and some of his friends have blowers with the stock tb and that the fastest new style Mustang uses the stock tb.

Thank you i appreciate it but i think im just gonna slap the stock unit back on to avoid any more trouble. i will ask around and try to find a buyer for your TB and spacer if you want me to?

There are ALOT of problems coming up with the Billet TB's no matter if they are LFP or GMS. Still, neither one has made any power in any of my testing but one has nearly left me stranded and cost me an additional $90 trying to get it fixed.
IF I were to suggest a aftermarket TB it would be the BBK because of its one peice casting design it's alot less prone to distortion and binding, causing the car to go into failsafe like mine and many others. The only reason I would recommend it though would be if you just had to have one. I still dont say they make any power nor do they require any tuning, except on S/C vehicles where they can make tuning a nightmare.
Thanks, Doug.
