Need some info on Granatelli Motor sports inc. pros and cons about this company? Has anyone used their products and how do you feel about them.

I am buying a new 07 GT and want to put a Cold Air Kit on it. Have read ads about several and most have to be reflashed. The Granatelli does not have to be reflashed. The bad thing is that I have heard nothing but negative things about the company from other individuals. Anyone here have anything to add?

 

it is an issue brought up many times but in the end it is the same, if you want the best out of the intake, HP wise then you need to retune

 

Glad to hear about your new 07. Congrats. As far as Granatelli (the person) and his products including his no flash cold air intake try using the search mode to pull up past threads. The man and his products have been the topic of much heated discussion on this board in the past year. Plenty of info out there to read.

Granatelli is a stand up guy with good products which they stand behind.
mm/ff mag has done testing on just about any thing you want to put on your car. Check out their website and do a search. I believe they like Granatelli's intake.

Speaking from experience, I liked the set-up. I personally did not have any problems. Although I never dyno'ed my car, it appeared to function properly. "It" did everything that Jr. promised: noticable power gains, better throttle response, and throatier exhaust sound. I must say, it is the best looking CAI(polished). Sounds perfect right? Well, as you will see... hp is addictive. I wanted more... a tune. The Fuego wasn't available yet, so I ended up selling the GMS and went with BamaChips(JLTII w/SCT2) and couldn't be happier. If you do a seach, you will see that your concern was the #1 topic on this forum for several weeks. If you're dead-set against a tune, then go for it... but definitely do your research . See before and after...

heres a happy customer. I think with every product out there no matter what it is there are going to be some duds.

 

I had the GMS CAI on my 07 as well and was very satisfied. I made 283 rwhp with their CAI and 2.5" exhaust. I ran 87 octane gas and did not need a tune. I am having a Vortech HO S/C installed now so I no longer need it. BTW, it's on e-bay if you are interested. I have a low buy it now price.

I've gotten stuff from JR and have had no complaints or problems. He even met me on a saturday to hand deliver the stuff I bought. I couldn't wait to install the parts so I asked to pick them up.

I think they make quality stuff.

I think all intakes, like everyone says need a tune.

 

Even with the granatelli CAI kit if you plan on adding a tune later on then you will be albe to .... all you have to do is replace the MAF back to stock.... and ive heard on other forums that Brent makes a tune that goes with the MAF that granatelli has .... im sure doug can prob do the same thing .... so if you want to add the kit now and then later add a tune i think its a perfect solution

 

Just get a jlt cai/ sct tuner package from doug a bamachips.com. It's only like $575 and it produces killer result's, unless you absolutely don't want to do a tune get the granatelli cai. I had orginally ordered the granatelli cai but canceled and went with the package from doug. One of the best decision's I have made.

 

Doug will not support GMS.

As far as Doug is concerned ?? don't count on it and I'll just leave it at that.. as for Brent ?? I would find out from him directly before assuming anything..

 

Although I haven't actually used his setup ? I've done quite a bit of extensive research and can tell you this ??? if you plan on any future modifications to your Stang that require a tuner ? you cannot use the new MAF which is supplied with this setup and here's why ?? all custom e-mail and canned tune files are set up to only work with the Factory MAF sensor because the tune files are based upon the Stock MAF calibration settings where on the other hand ? the supplied MAF is not..Therefore you have just 2 options ? if you plan on purchasing this setup and have no intentions on doing any future modifications ?? then fine you'll be good to go with this setup ? However if in the event you should decide to upgrade your mod's ?? you'll have to un-install the supplied MAF and then re-install your Factory MAF before using a custom tuning device anyway, hope this provides some answers to you're questions and wish you the very best of luck...

 

Can you blame him ??? I wouldn't support somebody like that either, especially after the person in question had their attorney prevent Doug from posting his test results while in St. Louis this past summer...

Hey Mike whos doing you install on the vortech?

 

I am 100% satisfied with all my Granatelli products. I've gotten: single stut tower brace, A-arm brace, CAI, Fuego tuner, just received GMS exhaust and plan to get GMS TB. All Granatelli all the time, for me anyway.
My buddy has a stock 07 and he loves the way my car performs.

 

JR sold me a product he lied to me about, spent the money, left it on my car, talked to him about it, lied to me again, said he would send me a replacement part, send me an even worse "banged" up product, asked me to send him the original part back for verification of the product rusting and breaking something on my stang, i called him back up and told him to shove it....

in a nutshell, he's not on my good list....
