Back in July I purchased the JLT CAI and tunes from Jay. I planned to use it with an SCT Xcal I that I had purchased second-hand. For a variety of computer-related issues, (mostly self-inflicted) that scheme didn’t work. So I later borrowed a Predator and tried that setup but couldn’t get the stock tune to back up to my PC. I tried a variety of PC adjustments but I still couldn’t get it done. The few times I actually ran the JLT on the car during these computer adventures, the results were spectacular but the tunes never got installed correctly and it ran dangerously lean.
In the meantime my JLT pipe got twisted and beat up pretty bad even though the installation of the insert solved those issues. So last week I said to heck (or similar expletive) with it! I called Jay and ordered a replacement Type II pipe and an SCT Xcal II with the 3 tunes loaded and ready to go.
The parts arrived late Thursday and got installed on Friday. Other than one CEL (running lean) when I didn’t get the tune loaded properly the first time (user error!), I’m now happier than a dead pig in the sunshine! Having the CEL problem also taught me how to use the DTC problem lookup of the SCT II and clear same!
Once I got everything settled down, I even tried my first burn out. Talk about impressive! And it scared the s**t out of me – I haven’t jumped on a car with that kind of power in 40 years. Over the weekend, I took a road trip to a nearby Mustang show and back – about 100+ miles round trip – with absolutely no problems. And all of this occurred on 87 octane gas (that’s what was in the car). I can hardly wait to see what it will do with 93!
Back in July, we did a dyno day during which I attempted my first installation. My baseline stock was 249.8 hp/252.5 tq (car is an automatic). After the JLT installation the car ran very lean (14.75 AF) so the results were not good. But now I’m ready to do another dyno day to find out precisely what the change to the JLT II/SCT II combo has wrought!
Below are two pics of the installation. Jay, you’ll now understand why I wanted the pipe painted silver. The decal on the JLT pipe is an idea stolen from another TMSer!

I've reached my level of frustration with the predator, couldn't get the tune out of it, so I'm just going to purchase the SCT II eventually. I have the pipe just sitting there, for over 5 months!

My friend owns a Camaro and didn't get that.

Looks great Chris Glad to hear the JLT/XCalII combo is working out for you. I was wondering why you had the stock intake snorkel on there at the MOSI show. I'm up for another dyno day as well. Maybe after the Silver Springs show in January?

Chris, I'm glad you got this straight and are happy with the new power. It looks killer BTW. I did look back and saw you ordered ... Min. Gray. I think it was.
And I thought ? Silver?? Well, maybe he's going for something differant.
Looks good.
Thanks for comming back.
