Thumbs up Good price on Oil Catch Can

I found this deal while searching around for an oil catch can for my 06 GT, and I thought I'd share it with y'all.

http://hypergarage.com/store/index.p...roducts_id=245

Universal Carbon Fiber Oil Catch Can 9mm nozzles $49.00

It includes the hoses and a mounting bracket. I'm going to install it tonight and will let you know how it goes.

Are those fittings large enough for the intended purpose? The connection between the cam cover and the intake is about 1/2" ID hose.

They look like they are threaded and can be changed to a larger size.

American Muscle has it for $93.99. If it works properly, you got a great price.

Can you take pictures of the filtering media? I had sent an email to Mishimoto asking but they never responded, looks like they just take this one & engrave their name in the top and then charge double .

Also would like to see the drain, the descript says there is a bolt on the bottom to drain, but then the picture shows the can sitting flat on a hard surface?

I was looking at the UPR, then saw the Mishimoto but they didnt answer my questions, then just today I saw the JLT which has factory connections on both end for 60 second swap, since they were all around the same price I was going to go for that for cleanest/easiest... but this price is making me think.

I bought one of the little ones for like compressors, after seeing how fast some people fill them I decided not to chance it filling and then ingesting a big gulp of oil all at once.

No install tonight. Seems that the part is damaged. The bracket holding the fluid level indicator to the body has snapped. I have to get a replacement.

Will keep you updated.

I really like this option but they appear to be sold out. Looks like it'll be worth the wait for me.

Just a quick follow-up. The Hypergarage has already shipped my replacement and have been extra helpful in the matter. Can't wait to get it installed. Should look nice with the other bits of carbon fiber I have in my bay now.

If the thread size is too small (like 1/8 NPT) or some wierd metric thread, then you won't be able to put a larger size fitting on it .

Any update on this ? I've had the Moroso one on back order for quite sometime now and it's still weeks away they say. This looks like it might be a viable alternative to waiting on it ...

I've managed to Frankenstein some hose resizing down to the barb that is on the catch can, but it's far from the OEM look I'm wanting, so I'm currently in search of a larger barb with 14mm x 1.5 threading so that I can replace the current barbs with a larger OD so that I don't have to downsize the hoses from the cam covers and intake.

Here is what I've found, but I don't think they offer it in the M14x1.5 needed. I've emailed the company and am awaiting a reply.

Another option is to use a M14x1.5 to A8 or A6 converter and use a more standard size thread and barb to upsize. I'd prefer not having a lot of converters in the mix, so if I can get the correct barb and thread that'd be the best route.

I'll keep you updated as I get more info in.

I'm not sure if these guys will have what your looking for but I would give them a phone call, top notch! I've probably ordered several hundred dollars worth of fittings and what not from them:

I like the can too, the fill level is a neat design feature!
