good gas stations?
What fuel do yall use? (folks running 91+ octane) Prices seem to be about the same no matter where I go, and I pass alot of gas stations (chevron, 76, shell, and so on).
Now that I have boost and am having to run 91 octane, I'm curious as to what stations would be best? I have heard of "good gas" and "bad gas", is there really much of a consistant difference? Or is it mostly random?

I never let mine get under 1/4 of a tank anyway. My old camaro had an in-tank pump and the pump would start to get hot and squeel on me if I let it get less than 1/4 tank, so that's still in my mindset. :-)

I read somewhere (on the net so take it for what it is) that Shell is one of the only companies that actually own the land that they pump form, so therefore it is better....Then Exxon was second....
I always used Sonoco cause they were the only station that offered 94 octane... I don't know if they still do...I'll look next time I'm there...

Shell, BP, or Exxon, imo.
I have run Shell 93 since I picked her up.
Shell gives 5% cash back every month.
So $2.999 per gallon is actually $2.849 per gallon, ie I get 93 for nearly the price of 87.

By the way, I don't get the 1/4 theory either.

Don't use deisel! I don't use prime uno gas, or anything else that is 10-75cents less than mobil, exxon, shell, ect. Also don't use a real old station. Those tanks are only rated for 15 yrs if they were made before 1984. some dirtbag might be using old tanks which rust and corrode causing bad stuff to get into your gas, same with slow station, the tank never uns low enough to get rid of the "old" gas and the entire tank is usually stale.

I try to stay away from gas with detergents in it (such as Chevron, etc.). They may be OK for the family van or Toyota, but not so good for performance (especially with extra boost on the motor). Personally, here in SoCal, I usually use 91 octane from Unocal 76 (which is sold at Circle K's). In a pinch though, I'll use Shell.
As far as the 1/4-tank issue, the in-tank fuel pump is cooled by the gas in the tank, so running it really low "could" cause the pump to overheat. But, having said that, I still like to run with a minimal amount of gas in the tank when I'm at the track, and I've never experienced any fuel pump issues at all.

Sunoco is my first choice (no middle-east oil), and I'll buy Citgo if it says 1 mile until empty, I'm in the middle of nowhere, and it's 20 below zero and dark outside. For those of you participating in the Citgo boycott, I got an unverified email stating Chavez is changing the names of the gas stations to Petrol Express, but they're still owned by Chavez.

as far as the 1/4 tanks goes, I've always been told that any sediment that is at the bottom of the tank will get sucked into system if the fuel gets too low - 1/4 of a tank is the measure we always used.

I usually use Mobil, Shell, and BP. I like Mobil because the mobils down here have the touch free car washes, and it helps in keeping my car clean between the times I hand wash it.
