gettinng dyno'd tomorrow

I'm getting my car dyno'd tomorrow. It's gonna be done on a Mustang Dyno and it is suppose to be about 85 degrees. Anybody wanna give me an educated guess on what my numbers might look like after taking a look at my mod list. I never got it dyno'd when it was stock, so I have no idea what kind of gains it is going to show. I'll post my numbers by Wed. evening.

I am going to guess 270 to 275 rwhp and 285 rwtq.

Well the numbers were not what I had hoped for. 256 rwhp and 265 ft lbs torque. I was hoping for a little more out of Lidio's 93 octane tune. My car feels great so the low numbers really suprised me . These are numbers that I would expect from this car in it's stock form. Looks like the Whipple s/c is going to come a lot sooner!!!!!!!!

I had mine done on a DTP tune and I was disappointed with a 291 RWHP. That was before LT headers and x pipe. I also have now a Bama chips tune. A dyno is in my future as well.

I have heard that upping the axel ratio will "rob" you of some higher numbers.

So are my numbers low cuz it's an auto or what? It was done on a Mustang dyno, and everyone says a mustang dyno shows lower, but more accurate numbers.

Some things that lower your numbers:

Mustang Dyno reads lower
Automatics lose more through drivetrain
3:73 will show slightly less HP ( will accelerate faster though)

It is probably not as bad as it looks. Too bad you didn't get a baseline. Many people don't and most regret it. It always leaves questions.

The difference between 3.55's and 3.73's is so slight there would be little if any effect on a dyno. Furthermore, Flowmaster themselves say their mufflers do not add any horsepower on a new Mustang, at least they used to say that and everyone knows that to be the case anyway. That leaves your CAI and your tune. You could change these back to stock in 10 minutes and redyno the car and you'd probably be within 98% of your true baseline. Also, what gear did they do the runs in? The higher the gear the higher the power figures generated.

Actually he has a auto so he jumped from 3.31 to 3.73. Not sure how much of a difference it makes just wanted to clarify.

I was not aware that the rear end gear or final drive gear had any affect on horsepower. I know it affects acceleration.

The best gear to use on the dyno is direct drive (1:1) which in this case is fourth. I don't think that rear end ratio has any effect on horsepower measurement.

Well if you change the rear end ratio 4th isn't going to be exactly 1:1 now is it?

Although one thing I have learned from this forum is that every mustang is different in the sense that HP/TQ #'s vary. But, I still believe that a GT's dyno figures wouldn't be any lower than that. At least I hope!

My car put down 258rwhp on a Mustang dyno. The only mod was the carbon trap was removed. That's right at 303hp at the crank so while my car's not one of those factory freaks, it did hit the mark

Rob, how much did the dyno session run? How many pulls did it include?

And finally, who does the pulling behind the wheel?

I believe the OP is referring to the transmission ratio being 1:1 in fourth gear, no overdrive.

A dynojet will show 20-30 more whp. So you are probably more like 280-285 on a dynojet.
