Gas Prices vs Performance Mods?

Is any one considering going back to an 87 octane tune since gas prices have jumped? I know it's only a 20 cent difference but.....What say you?

I got an 87 Octane Tune from Doug at BamaChips along with the 2 other 93 octane tunes just in case Gas Prices started to Sky-rocket, just to be on the safe side

I thought 87 is not compatible with a CAI?

I am considering doing an 87 tune. I spoke with a guy who does custom tunes and he said you could get some performance out of an 87 tune but 93 is the way to go if you can afford the gas. Since mine is not a daily driver I think I will go 93.

Well, it is an assumption on my part. Oops.
I thought I read that all Predator U7140 with Steeda CAI tune is 93 only.
If not, I definately need to go back and check on it.

DiabloSport Predator, thats why, I guess. I run SCT and I got an 87 custom tune for my K&N Intake, runs great.

I have an 87 tune with mine, and it still hauls the chile, even chirps tires into second, with an automatic!

I'm keeping mine at a 93 tune. I'd rather spend the extra $2-3 a fillup putting better gas in my car. I already spend $100-$150 a month on gas so I'm used to having no money. Plus I get better mileage with the 93 than the 87, although I still want to get a custom tune done. Next decision is which oil to put in it, as I'm almost due for another change.

That is the right idea! You might get 1 more MPG with premium fuel & timing advance tune, while the percentage increase continues to drop. Assuming that Premium is always 20 cents more than Regular, the percent increase compares as follows:
WHEN $2 PER GALLON; ($2.20/$2.00-1)*100% = +10%
WHEN $3 PER GALLON; ($3.20/$3.00-1)*100% = + 7%
WHEN $4 PER GALLON; ($4.20/$4.00-1)*100% = + 5%
WHEN $5 PER GALLON; ($5.20/$5.00-1)*100% = + 4%
WHEN $6 PER GALLON; ($6.20/$6.00-1)*100% = + 3%
So, if you shifted your mileage from 25 to 26 MPG, you would have an increase of:
(26/25-1)*100% = 4%
Today, it is only costing you +7% (for premium) -4% (economy boost) = 3% cost penalty to run Premium, and get the extra power to boot. When fuel reaches $6 per gallon, you're going to be racking in the bucks!
Also, look at it this way. Here at Boeing, bottled water sells for an equivalent price of $7.04 cents per gallon. Thank goodness that our cars run on this cheap gasoline!

My sentiments exactly - I won't let $3 or $4/tank increase cause me to put in an 87-octane tune.

Due to fixed income my dream will stay in the garage. I waited forty years, 1964--2004 for this car so I can wait for prices to go down. I can still go out and sit in it and smile.
I am very thankful I do not live on the southern coast. I just heard where gas down in that area was five bucks a gallon.

Yep, I live in the Atlanta area and our gas si up to $4.00 in places. We've had a feeding frenzy today with shortage rumors. I guess that's what prompted my original question.

I'm sticking with my 93 octane tune. In fact, I just had 4.10s installed last week. I am still getting 23mpg.

i used the 93 octane torque tune from doug at bamachips and i jsut paid $3.10 per gallon for gas
