I'm three weeks into a C&L CAI/Predator tune and 1 week into a MAC axle-back exhaust. After filling up with premium this morning I went through the menus quickly and reset everything to zero, then took off. I had about 15 miles of twisty two lane at about 60 (4th and 5th), then 20 miles of interstate at 65 (5th gear). Note I was taking my time and in no hurry to get to work. When I glanced at the instrument panel, I saw I had left the menu on MPG, and was currently averaging 27.1 MPG. It's NEVER been that high. Has anyone taken an extended trip in their GT and seen actual calculated mileage like this? I realize the computer is averaging...

I experience similar result on a long highway trip. I was doing 80+ most of the time, so my mileage wasn't as high was yours. This car gets great gas mileage on the highway. It just suffers in stop-and-go traffic and in the city.

For those getting 27+ MPG on the highway, is that only with a tune? Because I was on Rt. 2/I-90 getting about 24 mpg at 70-75 mph, my car is stock.

how are you guys getting such good gas mileage?
I currently have, JLT CAI, SCT tuned, slp axleback, steeda u/d pullies and 4.10's and I'm getting on average 14mpg with city and highway driving.
when my procharger gets installed.. its probably going to get worse..

They get it by not having 4.10s and a performance tune on their cars!

Did you really expect to put 4.10s and a tune on a GT and get 25+ MPG?!?

It should get slightly better mileage when adding a SC or turbo. Something about volumetric efficiency or something.

Depends what you mean by "performance tune". I have the C&L CAI, with the 93 Octane tune from Diablosport. It's not been INDIVIDUALLY tuned on a dyno, but it is using the performance tune on the box.

If this car was a weekend warrior only, I wouldn't worry, but I commute 40 miles each way M_F...

The performance tune doesn't mess with your mileage. If anything, it helps as the engine is a little more efficient. I noticed a slight increase in MPG with my SCT performance tune. Gears will have a negative effect on mileage as you will be simply spinning more RPMs at any particular speed...no way around that (except some have said the MPG difference is negligible).

What I've found: the biggest variables in your mileage are YOUR DRIVING HABITS.

I've noticed that very small changes in how I drive can make huge differences in MPG. Not taking off quite as quickly, making sure to hit 4th and 5th gear earlier, and simply being conscious of trying to conserve fuel have given my city MPG a boost to a little over 18MPG - up from an abyssmal average 12.6MPG when I "drive it like I stole it". I was typically getting about 14 around town average with mixed driving styles.

On the road, I do get about 25-27MPG when makeing a conscious effort to improve mileage. Haven't done a long road trip yet to see what mileage I get on long stretches. I think I feel a need for an O.C. to Vegas run coming on...

Absolutely!.....Driving habits are everything. When I did my run I set the cruise and only override a few times and made an effort to "Minimize" throttle movement then, just to see what she would do.

Wow!!! How in the world do you guys have such good gas mileage? I wonder if its because of the premium gas? I use regular. Should I switch to premium? I get my gas for free through my company but I thought the regular was all I could use in order not to mess up the computer. Please let me know something. Should I switch to premium?

Thanks,

David

P.S. I get 14-16 MPG in the city and 17-18 on the interstate. I dont drive like crazy but I do tend to accelerate in 1st and 2nd gears.

Cruise control set at 80mph on the I-5 approx 1000 miles round trip, plus town/city driving, trip to red woods (lots of twisties) total miles was around 1200 miles. Averaged 21.7MPG. (this also includes a run up to 130mph and later 140 mph and some goofing off on desolate private property :P)

Got 30mpg when cruising down a large hill until I had to give it gas haha.

Before I got the cold air kit and adjusted the computer with the Predator tune, I got 17-19 in the city and about 21 on the highway. Call it mild to moderate driving.

After the CAI and tune and premium gas, the city went up just a tad, but highway driving mileage went waaaay up.

Well, I want to stay stock all the way. Is there anything I can do to improve my MPG? Again does anyone recommend I go with a higher grade of fuel such as premium?

Thanks!!

I usually get about 18-19 around town, and more like 20-22 on the highway. I just drove on the highway quite a bit this weekend, got 22.7 or so.

Reduced for sure. First off the speedometer is 10 MPH off if it has not been flashed. At 70 MPH car is turning 2500 RPM and reading 80.
My foot is heavy so I cannot tell you the straight stuff. A guess would be 15-18 I am very happy gas price is down even if this is my fun only car and not a daily driver.
