I know some of you were waiting for my dyno results. I was supposed to go Saturday...but Thursday night I hit a cinderblock on the freeway. It was dark, and I thought it was a small rock. By the time I knew that it was a huge block of concrete, it was too late. I had to take it down the middle. I knew if I took it down the exact middle...it would rip up my oil pan, tranny, and rear diff. So with some uber driving skills (cough cough luck), I took it toward the left side.

Crunched on my left hi flow cat about 50% and the down pipe right before it. I had to get it fixed Saturday, so no dyno. Luckily....no exterior damage. I am not sure how that is possible. But the front bumper is fine...just scraped on the under side.

Rrobello graciously offered me one of his dyno sessions he has at JBA. So I just need to get it set up.

Here is Brad's dyno of JBA headers. Don't know if you guys saw this.

I wonder how much the tune was worth? Hopefully you get some gains, but it doesn't look good.

That's rough luck, sorry to hear that! More and more junk/debris on the freeways in So. Cal. and I find esp. on the 110.

What freeway/part were you on?

BTW I know the feeling. I hit a road tire last year, same situation, couldn't avoid it. I hit it dead center so the plate took the brunt of it. The front lower black valence insert popped out and I have a dent sortof and some paint chips at the bottom of the front bumper. It really made me mad but I got over it.

It gives the car character

you know what. wishing someone to hit the wall is unbelievable. You don't know me; and you would wish me to wreck my car and injure myself? I also never said "as I am a crappy driver". I'm really shocked...

If you'll note the tune was done with 87 octane and the gains accross the board were alot more then simply uptop. The headers were too much for it in my opinion in n/a form with that being his only mod. If he had an H-pipe and a good air intake then I think he would have benefited more.

Also, if you want good numbers then I wouldn't goto JBA's Dyno center, they use a Dyno Dynamics dyno which will show a comparision if you can return it to stock but the numbers are normally 10-15% less then with a dynojet dyno. I've tuned a few trucks there before.

Thanks, Doug.

Been there, done that. Won't do it again. :nono: I learned my lesson about JBA many months ago.

that's odd. everyone I have talked to has said the opposite. That JBA's dyno will actually give you higher numbers.

When I had my dynos done there in July, Bruce Tucker at JBA told me that it was lower than a DynoJet. He said they tested a car on theirs, then took it over somewhere else and tested again on a DynoJet.

I found my post from back in July about the JBA dyno... here is what I wrote then:

I also asked about the correction factor for the Dyno Dynamics system they use. They said that it uses a correction system that will result in lower numbers than say a DynoJet. In fact, JBA has tested both systems. Using a test car, they made a pull on their own dyno and then immediately took it to another shop who uses a dynojet for a comparison pull. The pulls were made about 30 minutes apart, and the dynojet reported about 20 rwhp more than their own dyno.

It was always my understanding the Dyno Dynamics gave about a 5% higher hp reading. It really doesn't matter though as long as you measure from stock to your mod on the same dyno. Or from mod to mod on the same dyno.

I don't know for sure one way or the other. All I know is what JBA told me.

Right now, I'm planning on getting another dyno pull done at the end of next week (but not at JBA). That will give me a baseline (at least for the mods I have now). After I install the EH2O pump and headers, I'll get another one done.
