Exclamation FRPP Mustang GT 14" Brake Upgrade Kit

Has anybody here purchased this kit? If so what wheels do you have. I have 18x9 wheel that are not the exact Ford GT wheels like the Project Source Horse has but from a different company ctr wheels. I emailed and asked FRPP about if my wheels will work with this kit. The answer I got said they (Ford) has only tested the brakes with Shelby wheels, but theoretically should work with an 18" wheel. Please help me.
Thanks
Eric

I believe they have to be at least 9.5 inches wide. The 18x8.5 GT wheels will not work. Your 18x9's might work if the offset is right. I'm getting ready to put the kit on my GT with 18x9.5 Konig Beyonds. I'll let you know if everything works out ok.

I know the genuine ford GT wheels fit. Not sure about the CTR.

Here is a quick test. Take a ruler. Measure from the widest point of your stock caliper face to the back of the wheel spoke. You need at least 1" for the brembos to clear.

To simplfy that. The brembos stick out 1" more than the stock calipers when referenced to the wheel hub.

I have the GT500 kit and have not installed it yet. But I measured it, and it matches the clearance numbers brembo lists on their site for the 1 piece aftermarket kit perfectly. So you can use that if you want more accurate figures.

It really has nothing to do with width. Somewhat offet. But in reality it is spoke shape and offset combined.

When it comes to measuring any brake kit…classj is correctomundo! It all depends on the template provided.

There is an article in the new issue of Modified Mustangs about GT brake kit upgrades, might have some good pointers.
