FRPP chrome valve covers, C&L CAI, and painted plenum, fuel rail, and fuse box covers

I just finished installing my FRPP chrome valve covers, C&L CAI, and custom painted plenum, fuel rail, and fuse box covers. I had the plenum, fuel rail, and fuse box covers installed prior to yesterday, however I opted to repaint them. The difference in the colors is subtle, but I felt my car’s theme did not flow into my engine bay before.

What I did was paint the base of all the covers, along with the MAF housing on the C&L CAI a metallic gun metal grey to match my stripes. I then used bright silver on the raised rib area and CAI tube. Both the covers and CAI are painted with engine enamel. The painting process took me a good 20 hours in sanding, taping, prepping, and spraying over a three week period (paint has a one week cure time between recoats).

I installed everything at once and the total installation time was in the neighborhood of 6 hours. I would like to thank Tacobill for his excellent cam cover swap write up, it helped tremendously! Thanks to Bill, my car started right up and does not even seem to be leaking any oil.

Here are a few before and after pics for those who might be interested. If you have any questions about painting the C&L, CAM Cover install, or painted plenum, fuel rail, and fuse box covers let me know!

Tim

In case anyone ever considers getting the FRPP chrome covers, the idiot powder coat shop Ford uses took a screwdriver to remove the VCT Sensor grommet from the cover. They tore a seal and I had to pull the whole thing back apart to replace it! As they were brand new from Ford I assumed everything would be OK. Check those grommets carefully if you choose the FRPP covers!

All that is hidden is pretty much covered by an ugly, tangled mass of wires anyway!
