FRPP CAI Tune...does it get rid of the throttle lag?

I am thinking on getting the FRPP CAI and the stock FRPP tune in the FRPP tuner. Does it get rid of the throttle lag like the Xcal and Predator?

How do you like that tune?

Confused... don't you already have a JLT CAI and a Bamachips tune?

Exactly. He's got the best, why bother with the FRPP stuff? It won't be as good as the BamaChips tune, I can tell you that.

Ok to clear that up.....My wife has a 07 GTCS. I was wanting to know about it for HER car. I am trying to keep it more "fordish" for shows and stuff like that.

Yea, I love my JLT with bama stuff in it....

Buddy of mine drove the Shelby Hertz Car and that comes with the Ford Racing CAI intake and Ford Racing tuner and he said his 05 GT car performed way better with the SCT tune he has that the FRPP pak on the shelby, and he drives an automatic with his 05 GT and the Shelby's hertz come with automatics. He said it launched in 1st and 2nd gear but after that, 3rd and 4th took forever to get to on the shelby. and throttle lag was there, still on the shelby...

The FRPP tuner your referring to ? is a carb 50 state legal tuner called a pro calibration tool, which has a very conservative tune.. this device is also not user adjustable and does not get rid of throttle lag ?..If your looking into the FRPP cold air kit ?? you can get the very same kit from Steeda along with the SCT X-Cal II tuner

I have not doubt that the x cal would be a better tune and the addition of the steeda/ford one. Personally If I was just looking for a better tune, I would go JLT/Bama again.

Can you order the FRPP set up and get a xcal tune for it?

Unless your wife is really into performance and such, I'd leave it stock. Most women could give 2 hoots whether they have a stock airbox or a CAI and tune, of course there are exceptions to the rule.

I'd funnel that mod money into your car instead.

Well, I made the mistake and let her drive my car....now she wants the extra horses. When we were looking for her a pony, I suggested the V-6 and I could mod it a lot with the money we saved. She said buying a mustang with a V-6 is like buying a horse with 3 legs (her words not mine...no flaming). So we got her the GT. She started to drive mine some and She had to pass a dump truck and I told her if she "REALLY" had to dip into the well....downshift into 3rd. Well, she did it and she said it was like on the movie (The Roadwarrior) when the Humungus turned on the nitrous in his truck (that had the guys strapped to the front) to chase Max in the tanker.....

Now she is hooked! and she likes the sound of the headers....darn

You can only order the Steeda/FRPP set up and Xcal tuner from Steeda...Besides the FRPP set up is designed and manufactured by Steeda for Ford anyway..IF you order from FRPP ? you only get the set up and their pro calibration tool..they do not carry or sell the XCal..

According to Ford Racing, They have no idea when the tuner will be available for the 07. I've been waiting for a month and a half now. The dealer and Ford Racing even disagree on whether or not the 06 and 07 kits are the same. Go with the aftermarket if you aren't worried about the warranty.

I remember that part in the movie!

Well, at least you have the experience to mod your wife's 07. Have fun!

IS there a tune difference in the 07 cars vice the 06. As for the warranty, I don't think it matters if its FRPP or Steeda or JLT or who ever.

My dealer says that there is a difference in the ford chip for 07, that Ford hasn't finished the program for it yet.

YES, it does matter and here's why...the FRPP CAI is designed and manufactured by Steeda who shares their technology with Ford..The Steeda/FRPP CAI is also factory installed on both the Shelby GT-H and the upcoming Shelby GT that is due in JAN 07 ? which both carry full warranties, so it's only a matter of time before the STEEDA/FRPP CAI will carry over to the Mustang GT as part of the factory warranty as well...
