FRPP 3V Intake

Looks like it's official.

4.6L 3-VALVE PERFORMANCE INTAKE MANIFOLD

Does it retain the CMCV's? I have yet to do delete plates, and would want to know. Also, which intake gaskets are included? 2005-7, or 2008-10?

That's more affordable than I expected, maybe it will drive down the price of the others Anxious to see these hitting different tuners.

I wonder what this will do to a car with only a few mods. I have longtubes with my CAI and I wonder if this will increase the HP enough to make it worthwhile.

Woo, dealer accounts ftw! I was expecting it to come out in the hideous gray color the pictures had shown the test product in. I'm still not the biggest fan of its looks, but as long as it works better than the CnL, i'll be happy!

The C&L is not ideal for NA applications but it works well for FI. If you read the FRPP description you'll have to have a somewhat heavily modified GT to get any benefits for that manifold, but nobody can argue with the price...

Not trying to thread jack but the C&L made power on my N/A application and all I had was axle back, pulleys, Catted x-pipe and a JLT. It picked up 10 rwhp over the delete plats at 5700 rpms and 7 rwhp peak. So I would say it does pick up power on N/A applications. If it picked up power on my little work it will pick up power on all N/A Applications. Thats my 2 cents worth.

The more mods you have, the less gains you see in a motor application. Let these things run their course, we will see which is the "best" in due time. When I shell out my hard earned dough I want the best I can buy or ill just end up buying it twice

I will have to disagree. The more you do the more power the C&L Intake will produce. On a Turbo engine the C&L picked up 47 RWHP. On a local car here in Alabama.

I know you are going to buy a JPC. Good luck with the Intake. I will stick with the C&L. From all I have seen the C&L is the best you can buy. I guess we will have to Agree to Disagree.

The FRPP intake manifold deletes the charge motion plates, so there would be no need to buy delete plates to accompany it.

Sorry I have no idea concerning the intake gaskets, I have not heard anything about gaskets for the FRPP manifold yet, it might be a good idea to call FRPP and ask.

Matt D, a well known member on s197forum.com, was sent a prototype FRPP manifold from FRPP last summer. He tested it on his car which has a C&L Racer CAI, Tune, FRPP TB, Delete Plates, and full exhaust as prior performance modifications, which is somewhat similar of a setup to yours, and he picked up around 5-9 HP throughout the RPM band.

Keep in mind, he already had delete plates, so all of this gain is from superior-to-oem manifold design alone. I'll leave it up to you to decide whether it is worthwhile for your setup, but I would buy it because you still have the charge motion valves in place, which means that you will gain a bit more as opposed to someone who already had them removed, and you're basically paying for a manifold AND delete plates(which hopefully would yield 12-15rwhp altogether).

WOW That is an awesome package but I would not buy it myself because the heads have OEM valvetrain and the FRPP hotrod cams are mildly ground so that they can be run without any upgrades to the valvetrain whatsoever. Basically I wouldn't be reaching the full N/A potential that I could as opposed to a setup with a more aggressive camshaft that absolutely requires at least springs and retainers.

I would like to see a test of the variation of power between a car with FRPP cams/heads and a car exhibiting upgraded valvetrain ported heads/very high lift comp cam(.500+ lift on intake and exhaust side). You never know, maybe someone will.

This looks great for anyone with a DD who wants to add a decent kick to their car without going FI. LT's would also add up pretty well.

They really don't seem to give a spec on how much you'd pick up with this package. $3,700 is a ton of cash without knowing what you'll net out of the mod.

Thats true. I was adding the parts up alone and didn't include the valve covers and was already a few hundred over what they are asking. Plus free shipping is always good.

I do wonder about that throttle body though. Is the price of it worth the difference from just using a gt500 throttle body?
