Front wheel center caps popping off... help.

I just got a set of Saleen 5 star replica wheels from Discount tire. On my first drive around town, the passenger side wheel center cap popped off. Today the driver side was almost gone so I tried popping it back on.

Come to find out the caps won't lock in place because of the wheel hub grease cap.

It was my understanding that these wheels were designed specifically for the 2005+ models.

Has anyone else had this problem with after market wheels?

I don't have those wheels, but it sounds like you need to use some adhesive to keep the caps in there. Silicone adhesive works pretty well. It will hold just about anything to anything (as long as the surfaces are clean and dry).

I had the same problem with my centercaps as well. I just used a dremel to remove some of the plastic on the inside of the centercap. They were not off by much (maybe 1/16"). This solved my problem. Although doing this destroyed the emblem showing through the clear plastic so I used chrome tape (used for rocker panel stripes ) to cover the caps. Looks better this way I think.

If you just need a little space, take a ballpeen hammer and dimple the bearing cap. It wont hurt anything to have a small dimple in the cap.

IF... your center caps have the metal spring ring ...
Open up the ring about a 1/4" gap. This will increase the presure on the plastic tabs.
