Front end clunk while steering?

While parked, if I turn the wheel suddenly left or right, I will hear a "THUD" from the front end. Is this normal or is this the dreaded loose-sway bar link problem?

I haven't heard any clunks or thuds while driving (luckily).

sway bar end links loose or strut caps...

jack the front up and support on jackstands and take front tires off and check the links.. probably just a little loose

It started doing this at about 2.5 miles on the odometer (total), so apparently the folks at Flat Rock aren't even torquing the bolts up to spec!

if your car is an '05 model it could be the upper strut mounts

People are still having problems with their strut bearings with newer years as well.

This is an 07 GT FWIW. I thought the clunk may be steering gear slop or noise.

Sounds like time to invest in Steeda strut caps!

The only time I hear the clunk is when turning the wheel when the car is stopped (like just to test the steering in the garage). In a slow turn, the car doesn't make any noise.

well if it were the links, which most have been aftermarket ford racing etc sway bars put on then not tightened properly, you actually dont want to lift the car at all , it is better if you leave it on the ground, just turn the wheels all the way for each side, you can reach them pretty easy, remove the nut and put some loctite on the threads, and tighten nice and tight. You may need a socket to hold the stud in place while removing and tightening. I have the frpp, and it worked out perfectly and fixed the clunk. NOt sure this is related to your stock pieces. good luck
