Dang I KNEW that looked familiar..... check out Nexmo's (Mo from RK Sport) posting for an RK Sport special from just a while back where he mentioned an air intake (it was in interior mods which is why people might have missed it but I was really surprised I was one of the only people to post in the thread.....

That doesn't appear to be a real OPENING at the top - just see-through.....

My point in that thread was that the positioning looked to be right under the vent in the California Dream hood - except that the opening faced the front of the car - UNLESS that plastic shroud could be rotated UP pointing the intake opening staight up at the hood vent.......hhhmmm........ :scratch:

I wonder if it's S&B actually making those? And to add the functionality for hoods that are enabled would you just remove the plactic see-through piece?

I like it but what do I do with my JLT? I love the sound of Jays pipe. I guess you install it and when the codes pop up lean the Tech at the dealer will give it some gas. I see another predator tune on the way.

That looks good, Im sure some could take benefit using that "window" for fresh air with a hood.

I cant tell from the pic, probably my screen. But if theres a sealed window, how large is the opening on the the box, I can see inner fender just ahead of the filter and also towads the inner strut, and the dip stick...

Is that sucking air from inside the engine bay...no right?

The major attraction for me is that my dealer seems to be okay with Ford Racing parts with respect to my warranty.

The intake looks really good and is probably well designed coming from Ford.

For me the clincher will be some dyno numbers. The price is definately right at $225 US.

Did you look up above....look's like the S&B to me.

Cold Air Kit itself for all models does go into more detail, well, not really.. but more than what's there under that part number.

I think that's a safe assumption. Probably 10-15 H.P. without a tune, 20-25 H.P. with a tune.

It seems all of them are putting up similar numbers. At $225 retail list, should be able to get it at $175 on the street.

Somehow I doubt we'll see Ford Racing actually post numbers on this though, we'll probably have to wait for a magazine or a user.

Well if you look at it closely the tubing is different than the second one posted. It has the same concept, see through window to see filter dirtiness and a show look. I bet it is for induction through the hood for those that do that, or just looks, but the tubing is definitely different than any out there. It is equal size tubing the whole way. As the other tubing seems to be small then bigger, I like the idea of the tubing being equal the whole way to allow lots of breathing. But this is definitely not the same as others. Look closely. Interested Ford Racing CAI fans breaking news:

I just called Tech Info line for Ford Racing Parts and asked if the new CAI for the 2005 Mustang GT, part number M-9600-S197 requires an new tune. The tech replied, "Not that I am aware of." So, I would take that as a 'No." Must operate like the K&N. Thought you all might find that interesting. $225.00 ain't bad.

About tuning, people talk about the car learning a new part. If the CAI throws off the A/F ratio, can the car "learn" its off and compensate? Will a car fix itself over time or does it really take a tune?

They both look the same to me. I think it's the angle of the pic and the fact that one's in an engine bay surrounded by black parts making them appear different.

Who knows, maybe I'm wrong.
