Does anyone know anything about the CAI Ford Racing will release in December. Model # M9600-S197 I saw it advertised on Sean Hyland's web site.

What performance gains? Need a tune with it? Void Warranty?

Thanks,

Neil

Technically, Ford won't warranty ANY FRPP parts. But, I've never heard of anyone being turned down for warranty work for having them.

Any update on this? I haven't decided whether I want to wait for this one, or go ahead and get the K&N.

Like the K&N I doubt you will need a tune. It will probably have you put the factory HC trap back in. Then again, I am also hearing that the '06s aren't coming with that trap so who knows.

Go with the K&N, the Airaid, the MRT, the AEM, the AFE.... etc. All of these don't require a tune, and work very well.

There is absoltely nothing known about the Ford Racing CAI, other than the speculation that S&B FIlters is the manufacturer, maybe.

Don't think for a minute that because it says FORD on it, that it actually means anything. It doesn't. It's just any other aftermarket part in the eyes of your dealership service dept. If they're donkey donuts about aftermarket stuff, they'll be the same donkey donuts with the Ford Racing stuff.

Leary of something going wrong due to the reflash and not having any tuners to fix it. Definitely don’t want to deal with the German Ford Dealership. I got this one, http://www.marcymotorsport.com/html/mustan...g_induction.htm
but bought it from these guys http://www.carshopinc.com/advanced_search_...75-5003&x=8&y=9
since it was cheaper and it does not require a tune. It's the same one FRPP has on their site.

Hey that's pretty good...their shipping is reasonalble too. Hmmm, I ordered the FRPP one through JohnBleakley Ford, but if it gets cancelled, I'll just get this one and slap a Ford Racing decal on it

I wanted the Ford Racing intake primarily for the looks and features, not just the Ford name.

That one looks pretty good too. I guess I'll wait for a while and see what else comes out.

Don't worry about anything going wrong with the reflash....it's very simple to do. Shoot an email over to Doug at Bamachips...he'll hook you up. You won't be sorry!!

I was just about to order the JLT because I think it looks good and you can paint it. But when I saw the SB I don't know what to do. I like the SB because the filter is encapsulated, better for air rather than the open design sucking hot air under the hood. Does anyone know if I need a tune with the JLT.?

Below is a scanned copy of the Install Instructions. The pictures are black and white, so they didn't come out too good, but the text is there. I can't speak of performance as of yet. Getting my car this week. However, the quality is superb. Very strong plastic and it has a billet sensor plate which the MAF sensor attaches too. Nothing cheap. The filter enclosure is also very tough and has about 1/8 to 1/4 inch plexi-glass on the top. It's supposed to bolt down solid using the same bolts for the OEM air box.

I'll post pics and seat of the pants feel next week. In the mean time, here as some pics of it installed in another vehicle (courtesy of kd05gt at AFM). O.K., I'll post below, I'm out of space for this post.

Alex,
Looks great! Does this CAI require the use of a mid-support bracket where you have to remove two valve cover bolts? Or does it just support from the TB and the airbox? How sturdy is it?
thanks,
Paul

I don't have my car yet, so don't know how sturdy it is. However, it doesn't have the big curvature (spelling) that the bigger CAIs have, so there is less weight at the curving point in front. Also, the "air box" bolts down in the same place where the OEM box goes, so it should offer support from there. There are no mid-support brackets and I don't think it will need them. Looking at it in my garage, I don't believe it will pull down at the TB.

Alex: Thanks for the pics...

I wonder why the back part is also open, since the air is coming in from the side? I wish it was totally enclosed, except for the side...

Yeah, that kind of bugged me too at first. But then I realized that all the major CAI manufacturers started selling the CAIs without heat shields and only added them due to customer demand. For the most part it is said that they don't do much in reference to eliminating the hot air under the hood from getting to the MAF...but what do I know, I don't even have my car yet!!!
