Really? What's the source of the rumor?
The link for it on the FRPP site is still there, though they are not known for being the quickest nor the most accurate in updating their website:

I have one backorderd from JohnBleakley...if it's not gonna come, I'll probably just get the K&N or that new AIRAID one that was just mentioned a few days ago...or maybe I should just make my own

From the looks of that unit it might have been made by Volant??? It looks good. Much better than the K&N unit. And its fairly inexpensive.

I believe the Ford Racing CAI was made by S & B.

From the looks of it I would think that it would need a tune. It is much different from stock and would therefore cause a much different air wave going into the intake. Then again it may have something inside restricting the airflow a little so you don't need a tune. The K&N doesn't need a tune IF you put the HC trap back in which slows the air a little, without the trap you need a tune. It might be something like that.

Hate to burst your bubble about the tuning. The only way the vehicle needs to be retuned is if the MAF size is bigger than stock. K&N designed with the same MAF size as stock but gives it more power. Regardless of whether you don't have the hydrocarbon trap, (which most of the Mustangs now are coming without) if your car comes with or without the H/C trap and you get the K&N, you do no need a tune.

MRT has also done the same thing...
They do not need a tune either.

When the Ford CAI was first posted with a link to Ford, I telephoned Ford and asked if their CAI needed a tune. Their reply was, "No". So, who better than Ford would know.

On the other hand, with the hurricanes' damage (alleged) to refineries and the reformulation restrictions relaxed by the EPA, I have noticed my Mustang GT started to get a little rattle (slight ping) under hard acceleration with an 87 octane performance tune. I knocked the timing back 2 degrees and the rattle is gone. Power still good, transmission still shifts crisply and my mileage went up, too. Still happy about that.

I thought I read somewhere that Ford Racing and S&B had a fall out or something and that the FRPP CAI was nixed.

Wasn't that you Tony?

Yup, that's what my Ford Racing parts guy said Motorsports told him, no reason, just that they don't know when or if they're coming out. The S&B thing is just a guess

Supposedly they were pulled off the website....well under certain searches they were under other ones they still come up.
