Ok now that I know that is correct, what is the best intake to purchase for a 2005 Mustang GT? Anyone seeing significant gains?

still would like to know how you don't need a tune for the K&N when ever other intake on the market requires one.

Now that I have some miles on mine I'm ready to take the plunge of a CAI and Tune.

I'm going to go with the SCT2 (glad I held off and didn't get the first generation SCT).

Still not sure which CAI to go with.

I know about them but I am looking for one that is built right into the hood itself

cause it retains the stock HC trap, but most mustangs are not coming equipped with it now. I just installed the K&N today and the result is fantastic!!! I def feel an increase of putting you into the seat, more growl from the hood and more growl out of the flowmasters! Def worth the money. Not all CAI need a tune. Most of the CAI you see advertise tell you that they give you 15 horses without a tune. But if you want the most out of it, you get a computer reflasher! I'm satisfied with the 15 horses and not ready to buy a tuner for $400 to get it up another 10 horses, I'd rather buy a underdrive pulley kit for 200, half the price! Call K&N if you are confused about it.....

Martel Brothers.
www.martelbrothers.com $260, free shipping! Got the kit in 3 days! Its def worth it, and when u look at the kit at a distance with the hood open, its looks beastly! And yes it came with the HC trap, and its in the AirCharger now! But you def feel the car getting more power and get put more into the seat as well as hear the car growl even louder, under the hood and out the exhaust. Its like my Flowmasters went through puberty.......... hehehehe

C & L Trueflow with Diablosport Predator tune. 22 hp increase with "canned" tune. Costs more because you're also getting the Predator, but that can used to compensate for other future mods that will require you to purchase it anyway (different diameter tires, different rear end gears, etc.). Tune file is a free download from Diablosport, the intake tubing is metal so no plastic flexing or melting issues. See my CarDomain page for installation review. Highly recommended.

I'm also curious as of the biggest gain in HP from just an intake and tune. Anybody been keeping track? I'd be glad to do an intake shootout if somebody would like to donate a new stang, dyno, and all the currently available intakes+tunes.

THanks for the info, I am VERY reserved about tuning anything - i had a 2001 dodge durango that i put a chip onto and after 2 years it blew my transmission and it cost me $4000... all i want to do is buy an aiir intake for that 7-8 horsepower gain... so K&N makes one? Or who would be the best for just an intake purchase?

K&N Intake for $199.

I installed mine tonight with the 91 octane in. Didn't get to drive it (see sig) but it revs and sounds MUCH BETTER

Are you sure this kit doesn't need a tune? How many miles have you driven since putting it in? Most important, did you disconnect the battery when you installed it.

I'd like to know for sure before spending around $400.00 (CDN) because the extra 15 horses without a tune would also be enough for me. There are just so many differnt stories about this issue.

Thanks for responding.
